What are we voting on? I think the video clearly lays it out for us I can't really talk crap though because I have not driven either car, but I do like the EVO X's looks better.
Subject: Re: EVO vs. STI (TOP GEAR) November 6th 2009, 2:24 pm
I think they both look sweet but the EVO definitely seems to be out performing any new car in just about every venue. I'd take either if given one but if I was buying one I'd have to get the Evo without a doubt. Seeing Ryan Gates kill everyone in the Redline Time attack with a relatively stock car is nuts. His times are killing people in the unlimited class.

Personally stock vs stock I really don't like either. They are under pwered and run extremely fat. But once tuned and leaned out a little they run pretty well. The Evo still holds the bar for handling. I guess I would still take the STi because I am Subie lover. Hell I would even take the EVO just to have something new........AAAAHHHHHHHH........ I can't decide.......... They are both great cars.

lol bi-curious turbos.
And the 2010 Evolution X's are basically the same as the 2008-2009 (the states only saw the 2008 version) with the exception of Ralliart Black Taillights, Shorter Antenna, slight power increase, wider sideskirts, and some other cosmetic stuff. Also the valve cover is plastic. In addition to that the "ten tens" are being packaged differently. There is a new package called the MR-Touring that deletes the rear wing and substitutes a lip spoiler. The MR-Touring is also all-leather. GSR and regular MR packages are still the same as the 08's

Stock the EVO wins. Modified the STI wins. Looks the EVO wins (but that's not saying much because the WRX can't decide if it is a Subaru or a Mazda or an Alpha Romeo). Bang for the buck, toughness, it's hard to find a car that outperforms a built WRX--especially an old Bugeye.

LOL, so... There is always someone faster.
Lot of cars out there that can out 1/4 mile an Evo, lot of cars out there that can out handle an Evo, not too many out there that can, stock for stock, do both for a similar price point (especially while seating 4 and making it through a Montana winter, the latter being why I traded my Z06 in on my Evo).
Out of curiosity, which car were you in? What all is done to it? Was the race from a dig or a roll?
Stock for stock, here at altitude, a standing 1/4 mile would likely be a good race between a C5 Vette and a X MR. Probably come down to how good (or likely how bad) the 'vette driver was. All things equal, the C5 should have a bit of a power to weight advantage, but I wouldn't guess it would be enough to "smoke" the Evo from a dig. Then again, maybe my definition of "smoking" someone is different than others.

In my opinion the EVO is a much better built car. I have seen many just upgrading the turbo and fuel system and making over 500HP with no internals. Subaru on the other hand if you put an intake on it you had better get internals or you will lose a bearing.
I believe the Subaru transmission is far more advanced than the EVO setup though.

LOL!!! well, I was just rollin down the highway about 95 to 100 and passed him on the highway heading towards Butte. He sped up to me to race...so, it was from a roll, from about 100 to 160 2 of the 4 times...by the time I hit 150, he was a healthy 8-10 car lengths away (hard to judge when doing those speeds looking out for traffic...) He had a new car sales tag on the plate...and was very unhappy after everything was over...my car is a 6 speed, diablotune, modified cold air intake and modified maf...soon installing 150 shot of nitrous...

Oh yeah, at those speeds, you would put a whoopin on an Evo X. Lot going for the 'vette at those speeds and going against the Evo. I think that if I saw a c5 or newer vette passing me at ~100, I'd just let em go, lol. Dumb that he expected any different outcome in my opinion.
What color was the Evo? Wonder where it is from. I think there is a new one running around Billings, Red I believe.

The red one is a 2010 X MR with the chrome package, fully loaded, nice car! He got it from South Coast Mitsu in CA. His name is Jeremy, and we will soon be evo brethren! except mine will be faster

Yeah, it is a nice looking car. Think I saw it in a parking lot a couple times. I'll have to hit up BSS, haven't been on there for a while. Maybe he'll show up at a Subi Scrub, speaking of which, I need to wash my car... Wonder if I can make it hold off until Sunday.
