PostSubject: suspension for an old dude.   October 4th 2010, 8:45 pm

My dad, who owns a 91(I think) crx is looking to beef up his car a bit. He wants a few suspension peices, he also wants to try to "return" as much money as possible if he sells the car (even though he knows that cars are horrible investments). It's a daily driver, but he wants to auto-x next years. He also bought new tokico blues two years ago when this was just going to be an "economy car."

He's not looking to look cool, he's just looking for improved handling for his needs.

So... here's what I was thinking,

H&R's mid weight springs, a little drop and a bit stiffer
Some rota 15's that we can throw sticky tires on
Replace the old bushings

Tune from this point... possibly sways to make up for the "less stiff" springs.

I know there are a ton of honda guys that have dealt with this suspension and actually use their cars for SCCA type stuff. So, being that I really haven't looked into this much at all... what do you suggest? -Nels

I was gonna say some H&R's with maybe like some Koni yellows..Those will atleast let him stiffen it up a little for track days and soften it back up for daily grind..New bushing kit for sure will help a ton and also I nice rear sway bar..car would handle night day difference

By the way very cool that your pops wants to come out and auto-x!!!

I would say order some koni's from ground control with matching springs. they are the best bang for the buck and totally adjustable and the same stuff many pro's use. I like ST sway bars and urathane bushings.

the full race traction bar in my experiance is the best one geometry wise. but it would be optional i think.

so for maybe $1600-2000 a whole suspension setup.... plus good tires. I don't like the R888
So far the best I've used the yoka advan a048 or slicks. lol

I'd agree on the Koni's and ground controls, hard to ever beat that setup. Tell Woody to go wild and so he can take you down next year!
