| I guess there was a bike and a RED Honda racing on 24th heading North and they ended up running the light at Monad and the biker was killed, but the Honda made it through the light and ended up running. Police are looking for the vehicle which had a '686' and 'Ski Free' sticker on the back window. The paper said the time of the incident was around 9:45 and 10:00pm.
Just thought I would post this up as I am curious if anyone heard anything.

| A couple of us were at K-mart when it happened, we saw the ambulence go by and the cops had the street blocked off for most of the night after that. The bike was really messed up. | |

| I dont think the driver of the Honda was a club member thank goodness, but I am not sure about the rider. Regardless things like this are easily avoidable. Makes no sense why people race on one of the busiest streets in town. Take it out of town if you feel the need. | |

| Racing on 24th is plain dumb. I say this because I have first hand experience.
People need to start doing what the Californians and Floridians have mastered; running the cars on the interstate, in between off/on ramps, at a time when there is little traffic. It's more responsible (read: not completely responsible, as street racing is never 100% the right thing to do) and decreases the chance of a accidents and tickets.

| True but they have dividers between the two sets of lanes typically. Cops here can just roll right across the grass and come after you without having to hit the next offramp and then turn around. | |

| Good! I hope they throw the book at this duchebag! This is the second case of someone leaving the scene of an accident after a street race went wrong that I've heard of in this town. Selfish bastards.

http://billingsgazette.com/news/local/article_2a96f3ec-dabb-11df-82d0-001cc4c002e0.html well its a good deal they found him. on the other hand im sure he was scared to death of what happen. but that doesn't make it ok that he left. i dont think i would be able to live life normal knowing i was part of something like that. kinda really makes me think of all the stupid shit i have done in the past. im not perfect by any means but i have changed my driving habits alot in the last few years. i know i will still make mistake but its stuff like this that has made me think twice before i do dumb stuff. we are all human and we will all make mistakes. it just sucks this has happened the way it did. this will impact some many people for years to come.

| In any case, we can't hold too much blame on the kid in the Civic. The guy on the bike made the decision to go way too fast to potentially stop for a red light, and to race in the middle of fucking town in a busy area.
If I ever do something that stupid and injure or kill myself, I don't want all the heat to land on some guy who raced me for a couple blocks but had the sense to slow down. That's how natural selection works: if you do something stupid and die, then it was probably inevitable.
Not to detract from such a tragedy, but I'm high offended by people whose blatant disregard for common sense makes the rest of us car and racing enthusiasts look bad.

| Once again another tragedy that could could have been avoided by using common sense. I understand the need for speed and the rush it gives you. I am guilty of it as well. I love driving fast. But this could have been avoided if he atleast wore a helmet. I could also say by not messing around on 24th but we are all guilty of it, myself included. I guess where I am going with this is that we need to be smarter by racing off of main streets and wearing a helmet/seat belt. I hate to say this but this wasn't the first time this has happened and it won't be the last. | |

good points be but not every time will a helmet save you. i personally wear a helmet every time i ride. but they said the wrecked that happened saturday night it wouldn't have mattered it was his chest that took the damage.

Living ON 24th st, I can tell you people race several times throughout the night past my house. Weekdays aren't as bad as weekends, but come Friday and Saturday night I have honestly thought about asking the Billings PD to post up in my driveway and just wait for it. Its not uncommon to see cars going by at 70-80+ mph. My brother and I have actually talked about getting plate numbers to report them. I'm fine with racing, just not on a busy street like this one. Take it out of town. I don't want some moron to lose control of their car and have it end up in my damn house, damage my property, or worse yet kill one of the neighbor's kids. My girlfriend said she had driven by the accident and there was a red Alero that the cops were talking to, so I wonder if it was that body-kitted one, and they just reported it as a Honda because its ricer as hell? Maybe not, but who knows.
