| I don't know of anything official (maybe someone else knows a MHP officer and can chime in), but more and more I am seeing laser being used at speed traps along I-90 in Billings by the MHP. They seem to be out during afternoon rush hour, between the I-94 junction and the west end exit. I almost NEVER picked up laser signals anywhere in MT a year ago. I will be installing jammers in my other vehicles (currently only have them in the STI). Remember your laser detector might go off, but it will likely be too late, so keep your eyes peeled! | |

| Dammit. I'm going to have to upgrade the escort. Do any jammers actually work? I too have heard that if they hit you with laser its too late once your radar picks it up. | |

| Hmm that's the general area I was doing some 4th gear pulls in recently. Thanks for the warning. | |

| I have had a radar detector in all of my vehicles since I was 15 and I have always picked up Laser signals. I live out of town though. | |

| RJ, if you get a vehicle that can't go over the speed limit, you've got nothing to worry about! Maybe it's time to rock the MR2 with a different r&p.... think about it... | |

| the lazer will not work in mt as well as you would think. it needs a highly reflective area to read. we have tons of dirt roads so the good ole plate will not reflect back as quick as you think. a true lazer set up is" seriously" on the roof of police cars. it is fucking huge. they have the lttle hand guns, but that is not a true lazer radar. thats a dot. the true lazer can read off of any area clean or not (except absoarbing or military morrior paint lol). | |

That is actually a pretty good idea . I was in Atlanta about a month ago, and got busted going 105 in a 55 in a rental PRIUS! I didn't even think the car would go that fast. Still unsure what that one is going to cost me. The only consolation was that I was getting 25mpg at the time

| R.J. - forever pushing the limits of any car he steps into.
There has always been a part of me that wanted you to drive my corolla for a run or two... but I'm not sure I could handle the fact that whole seconds would be lifted off my times!

| Hahaha I am not that arrogant. I can never feel comfortable driving other people's cars. And FWIW, I have a good friend who can kill my times with my own car. He started autocrossing at 14 and is a freak behind the wheel. Riding along with him is enlightening, he is incredibly smooth.
MR2_jordan I have a 95T and an 89 NA car with a SC swap. I have yet to disassemble and part out the 89, but it's days are numbered. I want to get a hardtop mk1 and go the MK1.5 route. Eventually, I'd like to have a 2ZZ spyder as well. Poor man's Lotus!
Getting back to the laser/radar/speed trap discussion- we should have some kind of local "trapster" notification list. Maybe like mass text messaging? That way everyone on the forum could know where the speed traps are in real-time. I see them all the time and think "I should post this on MAEC" but then I am not at home for a few hours, and there isn't much point.

| Or we could just start using Trapster a lot more. I haven't had much use for it sine it seems like nothing ever gets posted on it. | |

| Trapster kills a phone battery quickly, and you have to be running the app the whole time you are driving. I guess I could hard wire a power cord for my phone. | |

| Figures the GPS function doesn't work in my POS verizon touch pro so I can't try out trapster. FFS this phone is such a piece of garbage. | |

| Trapster would be sweet, but something tells me pulling out and fiddling with your phone whenever you see cops might not be a good idea lol. | |

| I got a bunch of $2 rapid chargers off of eBay and have started wiring them all in to my cars so I'm never without a charger. In my daily driver, I got one of those windshield mount docks for my Droid 2 that has a charging port. Works pretty well. I use it all the itme on the road for GPS, playing web radio, and as a more accurate speedometer. | |
