| I think I'll make it in the scoob. As long as I'm not running my car for extended periods of time, it seems to run fine. Although I have an exhaust rattle from hell coming outta my can. I think the tip is making the noise. | |

Eh, not much you can do about that. Live and learn, and they will. At least you can usually spot the noobies from the n00bs though. I'd much rather hang out with someone who knew nothing but wanted to learn than BKs who "claim" to know everything. Sadly, the latter is more commonplace, but it comes with the situation.

Good reason why I was only there long enough to buy a part from Doug. The five minutes I was there was more then enough for me :-)

Maybe I read things wrong, or maybe I'm missinformed, but IMO it's BS!

| I think you misunderstood what I am saying. What I was noting was that yes, everyone is always new at something, but there are the people who are new and are ok looking like idiots when they have to ask questions, then there are the people who are new and think they are too cool to ask questions, so they just spout nonsense. There are two problems with this, the first is that people slowly begin to dislike newbs more and more(which shouldn't happen, since everyone is new at one point), and the second is that new people who are trying to learn may actually listen to the misinformation of the others. I was merely stating that automotive communities are going to have the largest number of "bad" noobs since EVERYONE has a car.
And in case anyone was wondering I didn't make it because I was at work, not because I didn't want to go.

| Man, what is going on here? I thought everyone had a good time? Really confused to why everyone is being so rude. We were all noobies at some point or another and there is no need to be a jerk about it. I asked so many questions about things and also thought I knew things that were not true (that still happens). We just need to come together as a group of enthusiasts and point the people in need in the right direction. Lets stop ranting please. | |

| Adj. 1. immature - characteristic of a lack of maturity; "immature behavior" mature - characteristic of maturity; "mature for her age" 2. immature - (used of living things especially persons) in an early period of life or development or growth; "young people" young animate thing, living thing - a living (or once living) entity immature - not yet mature new - not of long duration; having just (or relatively recently) come into being or been made or acquired or discovered; "a new law"; "new cars"; "a new comet"; "a new friend"; "a new year"; "the New World" junior - younger; lower in rank; shorter in length of tenure or service 3. immatureimmature - not fully developed or mature; not ripe; "unripe fruit"; "fried green tomatoes"; "green wood" unripe, unripened, green
Whoa fella's...... this was not a slam...... if anything it was a slam for me. Meaning I must be starting to get too old to really enjoy youthful fun. just remember.... what goes around comes around... or did I get that backwards? lol
anyways.... I'm just saying kids will be kids.... and they all grow up sometime. Some longer than others. We're all into cars and so let's have fun.
The only thing I don't like to see is excessive speed in the parking lot of City Brew. Not blaming anyone... but it just takes one person to piss off the wrong person to get us kicked out of there. Yes we are customers... but we are also guests. And they do have the right to kick us out. Most all of us respect that... others sometimes just need a friendly reminder. This would include any kind of pedestrian or other vehicle interaction in the lot that has any kind of negative infringement on the other customers. Although there are thirty of us.... that one tree hugging pissed off customer that cares about the rubber on your tires and your turbo noise can complain and get us kicked out of there too. It just boils down to manners. And 99% of all of us have good manners 99% of the time. Let's just be conscientious. And some of the "Immature" folks sometimes don't look at the big picture or even consider these things. they might just not have the insight yet.... I know some of you that are 19 and have more maturity then some of the 24 year olds. I just would like everyone to be conscientious and lets keep a good image. Some one else want the soap box now? lol sshheeeeeezzz..... didn't want to start anything.
Yo douggie.. I got no beef with you man. But just something to think about. whatever street laws you break is your problem not ours. been there done that.... will do some more too. lol. but Sideways onto King taking up three lanes is cool.... till you put yourself in the peoples shoes walking out of city brew thinking that fast and furious is in town watching you break a street law just to pull up with the rest of the cars at city brew and it puts everyone into the law breaking scum bag club right away from their perspective. Again not slamming you.... just pointing out a perspective.... cause who knows.... if I could put my car sideways onto King I probably would too....lol. it's all good. I'm just pointing out the perspective of some others out there that are non car people that can effect us in a negative way if we're not careful. that's it. And I'm just saying this cause I was in the building a few times and heard some of the comments from some of the other people around. No we can't totally avoid conflict. But there is a place and a time for everything. Let's keep the club image good and clean ok? That's all I'm saying
Thanks Guys | |

| I should have read the replys more clearly, I was not aware people were out goofing off. I am really sad to hear that Doug was in the middle of all this. I thought you learned your lesson from the last incident? I really thought you would be more responsible on the road now (kind of pisses me off really). For someone that has been through so much this past year in your RS destroying it twice I figured you would have figured out driving like a maniac does not do anything but raise your chances of having a third accident. I really do not want to get that phone call again.
I am in total agreement with Matt on this topic. We need to respect the businesses we dine at and also the street on which we drive. I am not going to say I dont speed, because I do, but that is on my own time and not when we are out as a group. I could really care less about what is going on when you are running around solo, but when you are at a meet and going on a cruise we should obey the laws. Most of our cars are POLICE magnets anyway, why draw more attention to them?
Not trying to rip on you Doug, but I thought we had a deal that there was going to be no more crazy driving? I care about you and dont want another accident.

I guess that was the point I was trying to make.... as a group let's be responsible, at, around, to, and from. That's all I'm saying. The last thing we need as a new club is a bad image of any kind. I third that NovaFlash..... I must clarify..... For the most part we ALL had a good time and ALL went well. And I hope we have many other meets just as good... but sometimes it's those simple little things where we slack for a moment and it can screw stuff up later.... just be aware of that family with the 3yr old, and that tree hugging dork...... our image to them is also important. And Doug..... Still not ripping on you man..... and please...PLEASE forgive me if that wasn't you..... I just saw a dark colored Scoobie screetching sideways onto King and I shook my head as I walked back into City Brew past the people saying who are all these guys? Just remember.... I have done very dumb things. I speed too..... I break many street laws... I've done insane things.... but just not to, from, at, around a club even please. That's all I'm saying. on a non club even moment I would love to have you give me a ride and throw me onto King sideways..... I like that stuff. But the public don't.

| I agree Matt when we are at a meet we need to set a better example. I am proud to say I didn't goof off and I am not going to bash on those who did. I didn't really see Dougie do anything but a few others were which is fine. Some of us like to show off what we got but there is a time and place for that. Speeding through the City Brew parking lot was completely uncalled for Jeremy but it is what it is. These are the reasons why we can't be in the K mart or Albertsons parking lot. I know I am not the best one to be setting a good example but I have learned my lesson numerous times. I like having fast cars and bringing them to meets but I know how to control myself when it comes to driving fast. I do speed and drive aggressive at times but I have been alot better then I use to be. (my gas mileage is alot better because of it) We need to set a better example as a car club and some of us need to swallow our pride and chill out at the meets or we aren't going to be able to hangout anywhere without the police getting involved. /rant | |

| It was a very laid back meet. Most of us just standing around whichever car had their hood up, and a few fellas on those "rip-sticks." I saw Doug give Anthony a ride and heard him goose it up King but I never did see him slide sideways or even hear tires squeeling so I must have missed the Scoob that Matt saw. Besides one "certain" car speeding through the lot in reverse, I didn't see anything that would make a member not want to come mingle with the rest. | |

| everyone was pretty well behaved... really. I just said something cause the few comments I heard from bystanders. Can't please everyone and maybe they were just pissy..... who knows.
It's just that most people I guess think of a car club as some old guys with beards that sit in lawn chairs and drive 69 fast backs and corvettes and such. That's not really what I want this club to be although that's ok. But I would like to see our club have the same type of image as those guys. You know... the whole oh look it must be a car show let's go look kind of thing. Businesses think it's cool..... a cop drives by and gives the thumbs up. You know that kind of image. And maybe that only comes with the muscle car clubs I don't know. But I do know that that type of image will come very hard in this part of the country with the type of cars most of us drive. All in all I like the club. Proud to be part of it. Let's just not give ANYONE a reason to really hate us.
I didn't go on the cruise last time so I really don't know what happened..... and there was no cruise this time that I know of so.... I don't think anyone got tickets or anything. But I would hope that anything you did while together in a cruise would ever question having a ticket. I mean fun is fun.... But let's keep that place for everything where it's supposed to be. Heck I've been able to rev at a stop light on a cop.... and do the whole lurch forward thing on him... all he did was shake his head, smile and wave.

- It was a very laid back meet.
I agree... no real alarm.... I'll come to more meets. That's why I chalked up most of that stuff as immaturity lurking around that I would just try to not be to close to at the right moment. that's it. Then a few folks got defensive and I felt maybe I should explain myself but... IDK man. Guess that will teach me to ever open my big mouth. Maybe I'm the immature one for saying something. But in any case I'm done talking about it.... this is it. I will post no more in this thread. See you guys on the rest of the forum.

| Matt I was not offended by your posts at all. I got what you were saying and didn't think anything of it. The main thing that upset me I guess was SprockCapn's comment: - SprockCapn wrote:

The point I was trying to get across in my posts was: Why be in a car club at all if you're too embarassed to actually "be part of" the club. Just my $.02 (And just like I said in my first post: I could be reading this wrong and taking things the wrong way, I'm just expressing my opinion on a comment that was made is all. No hard feelings intended.)

| I don't think being embarrassed of other's poor choices should reflect badly on Captain. It was poor judgment to drive in a manor that will bring negative attention to a crowd that will most likely always have a negative rep because of the poor choices made by a few. Besides this is a Forum not a club regardless of the name. I wasn't there and as Dr. Auto said we were all young once, but learn from the comments made about creating a better reputation for car lover's everywhere.
Also being "part of the" club doesn't meant you have to condone poor judgment.
