Meet and Cruise to Rockvale 8/13

EDIT: We will meet at 5:00pm @ Albertsons in the Heights.
Plenty of room for cars there and easy access to get onto Main.
Then at 5:30 we will hop onto Main, cruise down 1st Ave thru downtown, then take Montana/Old Laurel Rd to the frontage road at the interchange, left onto Duck Creek Rd, then hit River Rd to get to Laurel. Its a great drive.

Original Post: Alright, gonna throw this idea out there...I love to cruise out to Rockvale to the Quick Stop Drive In for ice cream or a burger, etc. Since most of our meets don't involve much driving and we all love to drive our cars, it would be fun if we met up somewhere here in town at 500 or 530 and caravan down there, hang out and support one of the few remaining independent gigs... what do y'all think...I know Frank is already interested since he wouldn't have to drive to Billings for a meet...

I have passed that place so many times and never stopped in. everybody has told me its a great place to eat at. id really like to go on the 13th but ill be working the second job but i guess there's always next time.

Awesome idea Stuart! I too have been missing the "cruise" meets we used to have. I have nothing planned (that I am aware of) for that Saturday so I'm in!!

I saw we meet somewhere up in the heights (not just because I live up there) so we can cruise all the way through town and then onto I90 to head to Rockvale. Thoughts?

I want to go but I have to take my girl to see Hanson (she actually still likes them) at the blues festival. It gets over at 5 so maybe we can meet you guys as your passing through down town or on the interstate.

Whatever u wanna use for your excuse to go to the Hanson show is up to you...but its ok to admit you still love them... anyway, if we drag our feet a bit leaving Albertsons you'll prob b able to catch us on 1st Ave, hope you can join up..

5 sounds perfect and so does Albertsons. How about we set the meet for 5 but not leave on the cruise until 530? That gives everyone a half hour to get there (or to an intercept point lol)

you caught me. i love to get my mm bop on. even if i cant catch you guys in town i will still try to catch up with you or just meet up in rockvale.

So I put on the FB page that I'll be there because the Quik Stop is close to my house.... but Chris got tickets for the drags, so I think we might be heading out there on Saturday. We'll stop if you're all still there when we come back through!

One note though: 1st ave is closed down to one lane when you get closer to Division so there might be a little congestion for us to go threw, but no biggy.

Ok, so I was thinkin since there's construction on the interstate between 446 & Laurel, we should take the frontage road from the interchange, left onto Duck Creek Rd, then hit River Rd to get to Laurel. Its a great drive & shouldn't take any more time.

Didn't know there was construction there..... You should post up a map of the desired route so we all kinda have the right idea

(Pretty sure this is the back way that I've always taken on my motorized bicycle to Laurel. Beautiful rode with some good curves if I'm not mistaken)

I'll post up a map tonite when I can use computer instead of my phone to get the map. You are thinkin of the right one, it does have some nice curves & scenery.

Thanks Todd, that's the route I had in mind. Map shows Quick Stop south of the 212/310 junction, but its right at the crossroad, no big deal, as long as whoever leads knows where to go. I'm thinkin Jenn and I might leave a bit ahead of everyone else and get set up in a spot I've got in mind to get some pics of everyone on the river road.

That would be awesome! This should be one of the better meets of the season!

that is such a nice little drive. i always hop on the bike and go that way to laurel and then through laurel to molt the back way such a nice ride/drive.

yeah im trying to give up my shift for that day. but its hard to get a shift covered on a saturday night. will see. i hope it gets covered id like to go .

Im with you sam if i go ill probably be bringing the truck so i take it easy on the highway. not that i can't go fast i just prefer not to. if i want to go fast thats what the bike is for.

Theres not really any reason 2 go much more than 60-65 anywhere along the way; the limit on the highway south from Laurel might b 70, but it should just be a nice casual cruise...I'm not figuring to be in a hurry even though I am gettin pretty stoked for a maltshake...

I lost my mind a little bit - think I just read the dates wrong. I'll try to be there, depends on what's going on for me on Saturday. If nothing else, I'll meet you guys at the Quik Stop. I think I'll give them a call and let them know that they're going to have a herd of us show up all at once.

This is only semi-related, but in case your thinkn about washing your car before the cruise, I heard there's a "zombie carwash" at King ave masterlube on Sat...I have no idea what its about but I think I need to check it out...its not like they can hurt the paint on my car...

Good idea bout warning them were coming too, Sarah they might want some extra help on hand...

Last night was awesome. Had a sweet turnout and enjoyed some good food. Might have to make a run somewhere in the next couple weeks while the weather is good. Roundup, Forsyth, Columbus, not sure. Post your ideas.

Roundup wouldn't be bad. i like A&W. that if they r still open? ive seen its been for sale for awhile now.

A cruise to Cook City has also been brought up. We should make a decision soon so we can plan for the weekend of Sept 3rd. I would say the 27th, but that is car show weekend and the 10th is Lewistown.

Myself, I vote for Roundup as it is close and it makes a fantastic tuning road.

I think we should cruise to Joliet and take that windy road to Columbus. Rumer has it it's been repaved

Dont matter to me, lets just make a decision and go with it. Some people dont have weekends off and they need to ask for the day off.
