Anyone ever used the J&G diesel dyno? I know they have the software now for gasoline vehicles. I was curious as to what they thought of the dyno and how the results compare to Gary's dyno. Talking to a guy that is famous for tuning 240's he thinks either my dyno is low which many have said is true about Gary's dyno or that something is wrong. He's send me a tune to try out because he just made 601 hp with the same setup as my car. He however was on C16 and I will be on 100 so I don't plan on going that crazy. I am curious and may have to try out J&G sometime.

Yep it is G&J sorry long day yesterday. 100 hp seems like a lot. I was guessing somewhere around 20-30 hp. I know it really doesn't matter as its used for tuning. I have just been curious why my car always makes less power than everyone with the same setup. I'd love to hit up the dyno one time and see 500 hp out of my 2.0L.
I found a dyno for sale that is a bargain, too bad its 2wd or I'd pick it up and then we could have MAEC dyno days.

Pick it up anyways. I'd pay to use a 2wd Dyno. And with this being a forum for all, I'm sure there will be large turnouts of hondas, mustangs, nissans, etc. I'd love to use a dyno to tune my 3g eclipse.

Its a deal its only $23,000 and its in Minnesota. They are changing to an AWD dyno.

+1!! I'd love to get the Venge on a dyno soon after I get it all set up the way I want for a good tune!

We could have the first official MAEC horsepower days. (by the way, is it a pretty accurate horsepower reading if the AWD guys disconnect the driveshaft and rock it 2wd?)

i was being sarcastic, i know that it reads very low probly closer to 50 hp lower. my buddys 402 dynoed at 361 rwhp and his bone stock 346 was 323hpish on g&c s dyno. simple way to figure out hp is (i think i fore got the equasion) weight x (rate/234) ^3. found the equasion. preaty close i remeber running up stairs and doin this in physics http://www.ajdesigner.com/phphorsepower/horsepower_equation_trap_speed_method_horsepower.php i know that my buddys 402 has way more than 361 wrhp for the fact that his 3650lbs car ran a 11.8 in the 1/4 and his 323hp 346 ran a 13.3. ill have to search for the weight distance forula in my notebooks at home to figure it out alittle closer.

so if my calculations are right he has 422 rwhp n/a and 556 with no2. 422-361 hp is a 61hp difference.
Using my car as an example I think that may be a little high still because I was only running 18psi and most people make about 430-440 at that boost with the same setup. I think I will try G&J next year just to see what that looks like. Does anyone know if they have a MAP sensor for the dyno to monitor boost at G&J? I really want to focus more on a response tune this year. If it does read that high though I need to run it on a dyno that reads more accurate so I can join the 500hp club ha ha. Again not that the number really matters but it would be fun.

Buying that dyno would be a great idea. Really wish I had a 2wd car just for dyno reasons. I would have probably dynoed my car about 100 times by now.

i used g&j in 2005 in my nova and they told me my car made 591ftlbs of torque at 2200rpm. motor only ran 14.70's inna 3500 lbs car... so i chalk it up to needing to be recalibrated.
Weird I have always gotten within about 10 ft/lbs of what I expected to on their dyno. I usually set it up to go the day after they have it calibrated. But then again all a dyno is is a number generator, the tuning aspect of it is really all that's important to me. Its nice to see the A/F ratio's plotted against a smooth flat Tq curve.

im thinking maybe a quick couple pulls on gary's rollers may be more realistic. allthough i have also heard that g&c's reads abit low

I have over 100+ pulls on Gary's dyno and it is very constant. His dyno does read about 50hp less than ones I have used in Indiana and Florida. And thats because no dyno is the same and I'm sure that the elevation has something to do with it. There is no formula correction factor! Whatever you make is what you make.
That's how I feel Brett. Its not the numbers that really matter anyway, it just nice to get the tune right and adjust the power curve to fit with what your building the car for. When you getting back on the dyno? From what I've heard your new setup if going to be pretty sweet. I need to get back on after I make some cam degree changes.

Mr. Brett Kolb..... I was wondering what you were doing with your Mustang. I haven't run into you lately to hear how things where going. I sold my Evo about a year ago and started building a junkyard race car for fun. It's come along way but it still needs a good amount of work, but for now it's fun learning and messing with it. Glad to see you joined the forum, and hopefully I will see you around.

well, depending on alot of factors, including gears, converter, actuall working torque curve and the driver it can go any of a great number of ways, i hope to see some 10.?'s outta bretts car, but you never know until it goes through the traps.. good luck though.

I ran 11.20's last year @ 128.5 with 550rwhp and 550rwtq, with the same setup! The only thing thats changed is the turbo! Which is going to be a little different than running the blower i had last year. We will see, I could run slower than last year. Who knows!
