| (Disclaimer) I understand that drifting on city streets is dangerous and being associated with the forum will make the forum look bad since its associated with illegal activity . BUT..... Does anyone drift in Billings and is there anywhere lightly trafficed that it can be done safely ? I only do it in the rain so it doesnt wear down my tires/stress my engine and I dont do it at busy hours or in heavly trafficed areas just putting that out there | |

| I drift all the time in the winter with my pickup in the snow Then when the winter is over I forsake the exhibition art of drifting and actually drive my car on the track because drifting is too slow. Drifting is alot of fun when you just don't care about tires or your track time though. | |

| I've been using google maps to find places in billings sounds lame I know lol got about 15 on the list all over billings. I want to try when its wet out and I only chose spots enclosed off main roads and look pretty legit . I'll cross them of if they suck and come up with a list of future drift spots!!!!! hopefully I can go through the list in one night before I break something or get cought haha wish me luck. | |

| If you are going to drive a 240 and talk about drifting, please make lots of noise on DRY pavement. This is one of the greatest things about these cars. I can take my mom's mini van out and slide it with the e-brake on wet payvement, it's just not that cool!
The metra parkiing lot has been filled with smoke more than a few times late at night! How we never got caught, I am not sure!

| Film the action my friends i'm sure some one has a good camera for this would be great to see the MT sliding action. Everyone loves a late night drift session, I've had my fare share of runnins with the cops and as long as your not on the public street or a dick they will more than likely just be interested in your car/s. haha we set off an alarm inside a building while sliding in the industrial area near Full Race in Phoenix. Cops show up and are D bags for about 5 min but simply couldn't resist some smooth talking and the cars. We ended up doing big circles around their cars as we left. To top it off we get stopped by another cop less than a mile away because we have "racing slicks" on the street. Cops from the drifting see us stopped, pull over and tell the new cop to let us go gave us the thumbs up watched us drive away. We'll see how the street drifting goes here in Bangkok.... | |

| The "Transtech" park... or whatever it's called (by the new Honda dealership) and hesper area have several nice lines to play around in. The pavement is relatively new, the streets are wide, and if you go there after 11, there usually isn't a sole to be found. (At least that was the case a couple of years ago...)
I'm with Jake on this one, rain can be fun, but dry runs are sooooo much better.

I'd love to drift dry but its just too much on my car since its my daily I cant afford to have anything go wrong and I want the tires/clutch/transmssion/ U joints yadda yadda to last until I get my new engine built and thats a year or so still away but for now drifting on wet roads still gets me hyped!

| I do like learning the basics of sliding on wet pavement... But nothing beats drifting(dry) 3rd gear hitting the rev, clutch kickin and ripping 4th for like 50 yards goodbye tires!!! | |

| I wonder how hard it would be to just put together a gymkhana club and just have it on the weekends at places that would let us do it. Maybe this had been covered before, maybe not. But I know the scca guys get butt hurt from time to time when you drift at their little events at some places out here in cali. It's been a while since I've been to a billings event so I don't know how they are back up there. Maybe it's not worth it or maybe the scca guys would help set up a couiple events in the summer dedicated to just drifting. Eh, but what do I know........ | |

| How do the scca guys get insurance. I say we have Nick draft up a waiver and make sure the cars are insured on their own. No coverage, no drifty, so sowwy. Screw it, I'll just buy a chunk of land and pave 200 square yards of it and call it a day, I'll be taking donations as well seeing how this will literally cost two left nuts. I'm done having kids so I'm fine coughing up my 'ol lefty. Who wants to throw in one their "berries", you only need one anyway. | |

| I think since SCCA is so big, they don't have trouble with the insurance (I could be wrong). There were smaller organizations (Montana had their own car club that put on events as well), but many of them are now gone. Maybe we should contact some of the Northwestern crews that host events... they seem smaller, but still throw events all the time.
As far as the nuts go... I'm holding on to mine for a while... we'll have to figure out plan b.

| Surprised I hadn't seen this thread before. Nice drifts, especially Nik. Roundabouts are always fun in the rain, but it sucks that they're off-camber. The streets over behind King Ave East Oreilly's are alright, and some of the stuff down by the Zoo Drive exit. The Metra is ideal but it sucks they don't want you out there. Years ago, Andriy the Ukranian and I were out there in my red Trans Am in the snow. We were out there for probably an hour on the upper lot, and I decided to let him drive so he could learn how to drift. Like an hour later, a cop finally rolled up and hit his lights. He comes over and asks us what the hell we think we're doing. I tell him, "We're practicing drifting, sir." He says, "Oh, is that what you call it these days?" To which I reply, "No sir, I've always called it that." He then says he's been sitting over there watching us for about 10 minutes. I say, "Oh cool, what did you think? We've been getting pretty close to full opposite lock." He ignores that, prattles on about how it's reckless driving, then he catches a hint of Andriy's accent, and Andriy explains he's from the Ukraine. The cop asks, "So is that how they drive over there?" Andriy replies, "Oh definitely not, they slide all over the place but don't have this kind of control. They pretty much make their own lanes. So that's why we're out here practicing." He finally tells us to go straight home and to not let him catch us there again. Was a bit of a dick, but at least he let us off. And like you guys said, he could probably appreciate we weren't on the streets. After that, though, whenever I would head out to the Metra lot, I would go up over Black Otter Trail and look out over the parking lot. Half the time, you could see two tiny orange parking lights from a cop car hiding in the far corner. Anyways, story aside, I've only got a few videos, wish I had more, especially of when I had my 525i. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SW76xvv4QpA&list=UU-BTDWu2fkoOuVA_AnQJhqg&index=1&feature=plcp | |

| But if every car had their own, proper coverage wouldnt that handle the insurance problem. I'm no "mathemologist" but I would think it would. Eh whatever, i'll just be pissing off the scca dudes when I get until they kick me out i guess..... | |
