PostSubject: Audi Strut Tool   July 29th 2012, 10:49 pm

Hi guys

Looking for a Matra 2069A Strut Tool for my 97 Audi A6 =). Can't find it for sale anywhere, so hoping to get lucky here.

It's basically a 33mm VERY long socket... maybe I can get one made?

Shocked

Maybe call the guys down at Metric Wrench? Might know at least where to get one.
Also bigskyeuro.com might have more Audi guys to help you with, but welcome to the forum!!

Feel free to post up some info on your project!

Thanks!

That would be awesome. All it really is is a very long 33.5mm socket.

I could not find a Matra but I found a Baum PN 2069 "Audi strut nut tool" $122.53+ 2 weeks shipping. That is at cost from Matco. The sucker must be made of gold! Hit me up if you want me to order it for ya

Thanks! I will stop by Harbor Freight and Sears later today.... maybe I can get lucky... Smile
I found one online for 132 + shipping, too.

From the pictures, it is hard to believe that thing can cost that much!

Andriy, if you get some pics for me, we could probably weld this tool together with old sockets, pipe and rebar.

Edit: found it, it's a male 33mm hex shape over a pipe, in case anyone was wondering.

The tube has to fit over the entire strut rod from where it goes into the upper strut mount under the hood, so it has to be hollow. I measured the rod and it's 1" diameter, so it's gonna be tricky to find a pipe that just fits over that. We got a 1.25 ID pipe but it's a bit big.

Some people seem to have luck with just regular tools.

That there is the best tool you could ever use on an Audi.

I absolutely despise the B5 A4 I had. Spent more keeping it on the road than I did on the payments. There's 2 good days owning an Audi, the day you buy it and the day you sell it.
