| I'm having problems with my system, everytime I turn it up fairly loud, the amps for the subs clip and the subs turn off. Any ideas on what might be the problem? | |

| sounds like you got a lower ohm than the amp can hold. | |

| Also, is the amp shutting down.
Might be easier to list what your setup is and what the power of your amp and subs are.

| and also tell us what the impedance of you're subs are right now the way you have them hooked up. Don"t overlook little things like the remote wire not making good contact.
Are you running a capacitor on the amp?

| I have the Alpine PDX 1.100 (1000 watts a piece), one for each sub. And I have 2 Alpine 10-inch type X (max 3000 watt 2/8 ohm). Yes, the amps are shutting down. It's really odd. We ran a wir-e from each remote switch from one amp to another and that seemed to help a little because the amp for the speakers stay on now. I put a 600 watt dry cell in the back and that didn't seem to help any. Oh and I have a 180 amp alternator, so I'm pretty sure I'm not running out of juice! | |

In my experience, 9 times out of 10, its a grounding issue. Thats where I start anytime I'm troubleshooting anything electrical. Some ppl don't realize how important grounds are and therefore sometimes overlook them.
If that doesn't work, let us know. I've been through all the schooling for electrical....I can check your ohm loads on the amp and sub with a meter and make sure everything is hooked up correctly. (Not to say you dont know what your doin')
Just had a buddy blow both of his subs cause he had them wired in series instead of parrallel which put an unstable ohm load on the amp.

| we checked the grounds, we actually had all three amps going to the same ground, but it was only the two amps going to the subs that were going out.. as far as the ohms and all that, I'm not too familliar with how all that works, so I took it to best buy and they said everything looked with the ohms. So you are right as far as I don't know what I'm doing haha. I'm pretty much lost. I took everything out, but I'm going to have it put back in probably within the next couple weeks. | |

| I actually had this problem 11 years ago with my stereo. I had a set of DVC Lanzar 12" comp subs and I had them run SVC and didnt think anything of it, as I was getting sound. It was very weird as the sound was kind of crap and then I forgot I didnt hook up the other coil. Fixed that problem and won a stereo competition in Miles City @ 142db. Mind you 142db today is not that much, but back 11 years ago it was unheard of with 2 12" subs. Really wish I had that system still. | |

| I would also recommend combing the entire car and making sure you are good. Make sure you have your power wire for your amps run on one side of the car and the rca wires run on the other. Ground all of your amps on seperate grounds with less than 1ft of wire. Try starting the amp up on very low volume and see if that helps keep the it alive. | |
