PostSubject: tire size question please help   February 4th 2010, 4:41 pm

so for my da integra i found some wheels i'd like to try out. im goin with a set of drag dr-16's the goldies Smile the rim size is 16x7 now i was asking around and people were telling me to try for 40 series tires... i was looking around and its hard as hell to find 40 series for 16's but at the same time idk if 50 series would fit very well or look good when my car gets lowered again in the summer. if anyone has any suggestions i would really appreciate them. thanks for the help guys!!!!

http://www.vulcantire.com

there warehouse is in Salt lake, takes less than two days to get to you. Almost always have the best prices on Falkens and with the quick shipping it's tough to beat.

Search for 205/40/R16

the difference between a 205 and a 215 is 10mm in width and whateverseries tire is a %of the width.

and that is the ultimate tire issue. something soft, but hard enough to make it ... ever think of a good set of drag radials. im pretty sure m&h racemasters build some good one in small enough sizes that they should fit on your car and not look rediculous...

I vote for the Falken Azeniz RT615

They only make one size in 16" and it work well. warning... it is not a snow or drag race tire. I've had mine for about three years and I have to say I've used them and they can take a beating. I just really hated them when I was at the drag strip.... wouldn't launch to save my life.

Another thing to consider is some tire manufacturers measure thread width but most measure cross sectional width. So lets say you compare 205/50/15.

205 would either mean that the thread width is 205mm
or the cross sectional (overall) width is 205mm

check these out.

Very good point Matt as anyone ordering 615's be aware they are about 5-10mm wider than other brands. My 245's are similar to Federal 255's.

Choosing tires also depends on what type of driving you plan to do as well as the offset and size of the wheel. I am not really familiar with the wheels you are looking at but if I recall they come in something like +40, +25 or 0 offset. For an Integra the +40 will be the easiest fit and allow for the most tire. The +25 would look cool but you will need to run a smaller tire to fit. I know when I had a 94 integra I had 17x7.5 +38 with a 215/40/17 and I had to baseball bat to roll the lip.

If you know the factory wheel and tire specs post those and we can tell you a lot better of what can fit. Also what type of driving do you plan to do?

I'm looking for a new set of tires also.
For the roads here do you reccomend a 400 rating or in the 700 for longer use?

I know the roads in Montana suck. Not really sure how well sticky tires would last.

I would not expect any abnormal road noise from any of those tires, they all have a ton more sidewall than your 18 inch tires. If you want an idea of what they look like, look around at the mall or wal-mart. 16 inch wheels are extremely popular you should be able to see plenty of examples of how large the sidewall is depending on tire series. I would get the 40 series if you want the best handling.
