| well on my way home today my truck started knocking. sounds like a rod knock so im pulling it and doing a rebuild. for once i wasnt on it and it just started to knock. so it looks as if im building a stroker im thinking either a 408 stroker or maybe a forged 370. no matter what i build it will be able to handle double the boost im thinking some where around 20 to 25PSi. hoping for some 11s with it. but im taking my time with it and not rushing like last time. next thing will be a level 7 tranny. im level 2 now and im thinking it wont handle what i will be throwing at it. so let the build begin. | |

no offense but dont think that be blew a head gasket, he didnt. you really dont need to oring a cast iron lq block till about 25 psi of boost. btw shawn it was no1 (really doesnt matter still bent lol).

| It wasnt a blowin head gasket for sure. it had no smoke or anything. i ran this motor for 15 minutes after the knock started. the motor was every clean inside. it back fired and then it started to knock. you can see on the bottom of the piston where it was hitting the crank just by a hair after it bent. ill put some more pictures tomorrow. ive lost a head gasket before on another vehicle and it smoked like no other with only driving it for one block. i drove my truck 5 mile after the knock and it ran just fine. | |

| Sorry to hear about the engine but it looks like you have a good idea which direction your going to go. If it wouldn't have been for my blown engine I would have never learned as much as i have about my car and ended up with a way overbuilt engine but its nice knowing you can do just about anything and it'll hold up. Keep us updated. | |

| well i just bought a used motor for the SS with 30k miles on it. im going to back down the boost to 8 psi. just so i have a motor. so i can drive it while im building the 408. so the truck should be up and runing in a few weeks. its nothing permanent just something to get me by. im already having withdrawals and it hasnt even been down for a week yet | |

yep. chris was right. but not the next build. i wish i would have built it the first time I have learned alot about these LS motors sense my last rebuild. so im going with some H or I beam rods for sure. a forged crank and pistons. might do some head work also. noting to crazy

thats the plans but not on the street. i just want more boost for the track. i could go double what i was runing before but i dont want to get crazy. 23 pounds would be alot
