Junkyard finds!

This isn't a for sale thread from me, but if you want these parts you can go get them. Just thought this thread might be helpful for all of us that spend time wandering through junk yards looking for parts.

Went and checked out the Lockwood Junkyard (the one up on the hill by the interstate)

Things I found that might be interesting to some of you:
ej22 engine in a subarua Legacy (automatic, super clean looking engine)
DSM 4g63 block and misc. parts
Saab intercooler (plastic end tanks, so nothing super exciting but clean condition, rough guess on dimensions 7"x24"x2.5")
Coolest thing ever- Subaru Justy 4wd chassis

I just happened to have my camera and snapped some photos if someone wants to see I will post them up.

If you have any pics of the DSM stuff I'll be down with pics?

no pics of the dsm stuff sorry. Someone has obviously robbed it of the turbo stuff and head so you are looking at a bare block. I peaked in to see if the pistons looked messed up or any damage and my quick opinion is it looks good still.

If you want to go look at it, ask them where the nissan maxima's and alitima's are. They only have a few so they should point you in the same direction. The dsm is just a few feet further up the hill from the few nissans they have.

I might swing by there tomorrow. Hmm...

Any srt stuff

you proly wont find any srt stuff in this state for another 10 years because if one gets wrecked, it would get bought from the insurance companies before it hits the yards here

^^^^ you beat me too it. The newest cars I saw out there and I see every where is Kia's and Hyuandai's. Simply because you crash one.... it's totalled most likely so the junk yards get them because no one wants there spare parts.

Good rule of thumb, unless you are lucky or looking for a really odd ball thing you are not going to find it at a junk yard. Those guys make a living taking the good parts off and selling them. So unless you need something that they missed or is uncommon for them to sale.... it's already been taken off and sold by the junk yard owner.

Yeah, there have been a couple of 4G63s at the JYs that have everything turbo related pulled pretty quick. Most of it is way overpriced, anyhow. Might find some halfway decent DSM rearends, body panels, and interior crap that would be cheaper than getting it online, but personally I'd rather spend a bit more and save myself the wasted time of driving out there.

If anyone wants some DSM stuff, though, I might be parting out two or three Talon TSi's soon, and I've got some misc wiring and old turbos sitting around. I do also have an old programmable piggyback ECU for a Talon somewhere, but don't know if it still works.
