| I bought mine online(sorry, don't remember the exact site) but it is a $500 HJC that I got for like, $250 I think(was the model year closeout or something?) Just hop on a motorcycle forum and do some searching there. Those guys all know the best places to get helmets, but plan on spending about $3-400 for the two of you, unless you want some ghetto wal-mart Shell brand helmets for $60 a piece. | |

| Also, plain helmets will always be cheaper. Mine is just a blank gloss white. Designs on them added pretty much over $100 to almost every helmet. And word to the wise, white>black. Trust me | |

| Go down to a motorcycle dealership and try on their helmets, then when you find one you like try to order the 2009 or 2008 model online. | |

| I wish I had got an open face helmet sometime. Way more comfortable.
BTW having someone in the car is gonna cost you at least a solid tenth in your quarter. I know my wife being in my car did and I tested it a few times to be sure. She only weighs about a buck twenty.

| Hi-tech motor sports sells helmets...that you can try on. I bought one last year for my bike, cost me about 200 roughly...its a hjc, dot and Snell approved, I think it was a step above the base model. High mountain recreation joined with Beartooth Harley so you can check them out for helmets too. there is also the honda shop and reiters kawasaki. Hi-tech usually has the best prices in town. I know Walmart used to sell "cheap" helmets in the motorcycle section for around $100. | |

| If you're going to buy a used one, or an older model, check the snell number first, just so you don't buy one that will be "useless" on the course in a couple of years.
I tried on a few of my buddies, and then bought a "blank" hlc online for cheap. Good luck
Or you can get one of those cool leather Russian mig helmets and just wear it around all the time.

| I have a few different helmets i got all mine at hi-tech motorsport's. All mine are HJC. I really like my carbon fiber one super light. heres a picture. get a carbon fiber one if the funds will let you. you will really feell a difference if you wear it all day compared to a normal one. the all carbon fiber one is on the right. | |

i think at the time mine was around $450. i have found them around $400. they are a bit pricey. but in my book its worth it. the model number is HJC AC-12.

I would spend more money on a ugly fuckin helmet that fit right and was comfortable, over one with a sweet ass paint job that wasnt all around snug and comfortable.

| I have an HJC and it's OK. I have the one in the middle of Shawn's picture.
I kinda wish they had an open faced one when I was looking. The HJC just gets so frickin hot and it's tough to speak or understand anyone with it on IMO.

| It must be Snell 2000 approved. Leastways it was last year.
The latest HJC helmets are Snell 2005 compliant. I'd get one of those if you don't mind the closed face.

| Here are some good deals on helmets. Free shipping on orders over $75. Last year I got a decent pair of full face HJCs for like $90 shipped. Some of them are kinda ugly (hence the discount), but I suppose you can just paint 'em to be all pretty like. They even have some open-faced ones, which are a must if you like not having your precious field of view obstructed. | |

| Awesome find Cy!!! Might have to order one tomorrow when I get paid. But I have a question about the open face. I would much rather have an open face, but the biggest thing I'm worried about is restricitions at the drag strip and SCCA and others. Can you get away with a half face at the strip? I'm pretty sure you have to have a full one which is why I plan on getting a full face. | |

| As long as you don't go too fast, I imagine. I don't know the specifics, but I use an open faced HJC motorcycle helmet that I got from Hi Tech for like $50, and it's never been a problem at the drags or auto-x. | |

| As long as it's a recent Snell version, should be fine. I'd love to find some of those open faced driving helmets with the little sun visor that hangs down. | |

| SCCA will allow Snell 95s until the 2010 models come out. The three latest Snell ratings are allowed and the 2010 model isn't supposed to come out until later this summer. An open face helmet is just fine also. It definitely makes a temp difference when its 100 degrees in August. Be careful with some of the too good to be true interenet deals, some people have ended up with new old stock helmets which are 95 or 2000 rated. I have a couple HJC's and really like them. They are priced nice for their quality. I did have a Simpson for a while and it was a little nicer, but it also had a larger price tag. | |

Anyway, I'm thinking I would like an open face much better and I'm gonna start looking for one instead of a full face now that I know it will pass. I see most people use full face but recomend the open face lol. I do like that one Owen, but its not Snel rated? Get a red one for me and a green one for the lady

| I think it is. Go to HJC's website and look up the FS-3. Says "SNELL/DOT Approved".
Google "FS-3 snell" and see what comes up or do a "FS-3 review" search. For more info.

| Check some of the local bike shops, too. Like I said, I got a decent open faced HJC w/visor at Hi Tech Yamaha for like $50, and it's Snell/DOT approved. Plus, since different brands have different ideas of sizing, you can at least go and see what fits your melon. | |

| I like your red one. Might have to get one of those models myself.
The helmets I saw in pawn shops weren't much cheaper. Plus, you don't know their history. They could have lead a rough life and lost their protective ability. They say that you're supposed to replace your helmet if it's ever had a heavy impact, even if it looks fine...
