I've always used Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 and I've always been happy with the results.

Go to the paint doctor in the heights and get some "Plum Crazy" from him. I have not had a ton of experience with differenct waxes but always used that product on my black RSX and it would look amazing after I was done.

Zaino, whole system then as many coats of their wax as you can put on before your arms fall off... I've seen some pretty nice Zaino'd cars in black, the more you put on, the better it looks...

i have personally went to oreilly auto and get the meguires mirror glaze products in the back corner of the store by the body work products. FIRST question...do you have scratches in the clear coat?? If so, then I would get the fine cut finish or swirl remover 2.0 to start...apply with buffer...will remove scratches.......then go to the machine glaze bottle...apply with buffer.... then finish with the high tech yellow wax...super good stuff...I just did that to my hood last night...looks sick!!! Most of my clear coat scratches are gone...super super shiny! I still need to do the rest of the car...when I'm done it should look better than new!!!

Perfect! Thanks for the tip! I'll try exactly that.

Zaino for the win. I'm going to be upgrading to Zaino and Adam's Polishes (Porter cable buffer!) and swissvax.

If you guys are serious about detailing your car... look here

I agree. Zaino without a doubt on a black car. however, it's a big pain in the ass. NXT 2.0 for the easy way.

Here's what I do on my black car... Cheap spray on Mequiar's Quick Wax followed by a good buffing with Meguiar's Quick Detailer. There is something about the wax being followed by the polymer that makes it work. It freaking glows. It doesn't last, but what the hell.... it's black and needs constant attention anyway, so why not.

I will hit it every weekend in the summer.

nice thread. I got a black civic but don't have a clue about waxing.

Does it matter based on the color?

If you get really serious about it, yes it matters. But more important than that is to make sure the paint surface is completely clean before waxing. This means full hand wash, clay bar, and polish. Otherwise you are just going to get more scratches =/
