| Alright so i was on Break and thats a 15min, and ways i decided to rush to Arbys and back anyways with my bad vision i couldnt make out this Highway patrol car till the last moment, i was going 13 over(45mph speed limit) he was a really cool guy.
Here are the facts -highway patrol (little more laid back i believe) -Turned on his Lights when i was already in the road to the employee parking (private) -he lowered it to 10mph over -havnt had a ticket in about a year(wreckless but insurance hasnt found it, was for a dumb reason), and a speeding ticket about 3 years ago. -i was very respectful to him and he was back. i asked him if there was anything he could do, so he took it to 10mph over
Its not bad, but my insurance just went down and i was almost late from break, (was after he pulled me over) good chance of getting it deffered? something i can say to get it dropped?
what are my choices EXCEPT for letting it go on my record.
Im usually a good driver so no speel needed here. just bad timing i need glasses to spot the cops from farther away.
thanks guys | |

| Have to get the obligatory "don't speed" out of the way... whew, glad thats over Ok, someone posted on the board about a month ago I think that if you just go into the courthouse and pay it before your court date and claim "no contest" that it won't be reported to your insurance. Now I don't know the validity of that, but it was stated and backed up by another member...so.....??? I'd go that route. | |

| i've tried the no contest approach and it showed up on my record. just finally got off.
If at anytime in your conversation with the cop you said or admitted to speeding your toast. pay up and move on.

well i know here in b town for the most part if you dont have a clean record they wont defer it. i once got a reckless for doing a wheelie on my bike and the only way they would defer it was if i were to take a driving class. the driving class was like 6 hrs on a saturday. that sucked but a least i didn't end up with a reckless on my record. if you push hard enough they might defer it.

| A co-workers husband works in local law enforcement. She got a ticket and made her go to court. He said if you get a ticket, go appear on your court date and plead guilty in front of the judge and pay your fine. That way it does NOT go on your record as you were taking full responsibility for your actions. He would know if anyone..... I've not had that experience. Only ticket I got was going 100 and got busted outside of Spokane. They had a sting of 4 HP's set up. All of the tickets there are $101. I wasn't about to drive back there to plead guilty. I just mailed them the hundy. | |

| if you didn't admit to speeding, ask for the calibration records(if he tagged you with radar) and if it hasn't been calibrated in a while, you can get off that way, if he has nothing but his word that you were speeding, just ask for proof. | |

| Highway patrol is now using laser and LIDAR that does not need to be calibrated. | |
