| when driving on the high way my steering wheel has a slight shimmy/vibration. t feel like a tire is out of balance i guess. it seems to come and go with certain speeds in between 70 and 85. the only time i had it faster then that was at the track and i wasn't paying attention. i don't have cruise control so i cant say what speeds it doesn't happen at if it is even is related to the speed. i have brand new 16x8 inch rims with falken 205/45/16 tires. (a slight stretch but the recommended tire size on wheel fire.com) lisacs mounted and balanced the wheels and tires. i had to bring them back to lisacas 3 times to have them balanced and then i brought it to staleys and they balanced them again and put hub centering rings on. it has been aligned and it did it before i added caber to my rear wheels so its not related to that. thoughts? | |

| I know you said the problem was there before the camber adjustment, but I just wanted to throw out there that my camber was pretty radical last year (4 or 5 degrees) and due to that camber I was getting uneven wear on the tires which caused the tires to bubble up which made my car bounce around 60-65 and then it would clear up. | |

| i took it on the highway tonight and it did it still but not as bad and not right away. almost like it takes a little bit of driving. not much though just a couple minutes. could be a flat spot like you mentioned mike but is more noticeable after the tires are warmer from driving? maybe thats crazy. just thinken though. | |

| Typically a vibration at a certain speed is caused by a balance issue. Do you know how they balanced the tires and what points your weights are at? Some rims are designed to have weights on the inside and outside, but for cosmetics, they get balanced on the inside and center. This sometimes causes issues keeping them balanced properly. If you're getting a shimmey in the wheel then it's 99% likely that it's in the front. Either look yourself, or find out how much weight was added to balance them out. If it took over 2 ounces then something is not right with the wheels. Some tires have a dot painted on them to show where to line them up for the best balance. Not all tires are like this but it is a possibility. | |

| It could also be as simple as just being out of balance again. Do you feel it in your ass too, or just in your hands? If its hands only, chances are the shimmy/shake is coming fromt he front end. In your ass, its a rear suspension/tire problem. That being said, if it is only in your hands, chances are its slightly out of balance and only noticable at a certain speed range. It could also be a steering component (tie rod end), wheel bearing, coilover, shock/strut condition, even a bushing. I'd possibly go have the tires re-balance. If you've been driving it hard, you probably just threw a .25oz wheel weight or something....
Start there, and report back. You could always jack the front end up and check to see if anything's loose - that's where I'd start personally. | |
