| For those of you who drag race your bikes. I am wondering what all is needed when running your bike at the strip? I know most guys that run have full gear on of some sort. but last night i saw a guy run a few times with just a jacket and a helmet. is full gear needed to run. also do they make sure you have a motor cycle licenses? | |

| If your faster then 120 then yes must have boots and full leathers ect. if slower then 120 only need the lid and a coat. My first time I didnt have pants so I ran hard to 1000 feet then rolled out of it just to get the take off down. I was hitting 108 to 110 in the 1/8 and just made sure I went across at 119...they never said I word to me. so if you can launch a bike, any newer 600 should put you in full gear. | |

| good to know no matter what full gear is smart. i was just wondering cause a older bike last night only had jeans and shoes. just kinda made me wonder. if i get a bike id like to try the strip a few times. just to see what a bike would run. | |

ya he was only in the 13s. Ya bikes are a blast I had an 04 r1 running 9.9s at 140's in acton on a stock swingarm. Ran my buddys 05 gsxr 750 in the mid 10s. It was sweet watching the turbo run lastnight it runs hard thats for sure. Wish I had my bike lastnight, me and that busa would have been a great race!!!

| Yeah, the track at Acton is a bit less stringent than some. We get away with ballistic out there where some tracks require actual leathers. Boots just have to be over the ankle, newer rated snell helmet, supposed to have a kill switch (although a modern bike's tip over kill is supposed to be "good enough" but won't stop a bike from "ghost riding"). They will usually let you run one pass over 120 before they tell you to slow it down or have jacket and pants. Plenty of Harley guys today running in less than full gear but not many running fast enough for the officials to care. And yep Shawn, got the 60's down a bit further . | |

| The 1000 was driving thru the clutch, and the motor might be hurt | |

And yep Shawn, got the 60's down a bit further . good stuff glad you finally hit 9s. it would be fun to try out the strip on a bike. something i have never done. id like to try it some time. but i dont want to invest in a set of leather to find out its something i dont like. i guess we will see. maybe next year. i know seat time is very very important so next year might be best.

Ride some 1/8 mile passes to get the feel for it, then make one or two "illegal" pass at the end of the night to see what you run. Or just get a set of ballistic pants and have fun.

Maybe next season we'll both get our licenses, I kinda want to travel to a race or two and you can bet that you clipping off an 8 sec pass is going to piss off the tech at another track.
