| Here are my old times at Acton. Both cars have new combos for this summer
1993 LX Coupe 60 ft 2.168 1/8 8.638 mph 85.74 1/4 13.160 mph 109.88
2003 SVT Cobra 60 ft 1.778 1/8 7.693 mph 90.09 1/4 11.934 mph 116.71

| What does a stock 07-09 GT500 trap at Acton typically?
I know they are traction limited at around 13.5'ish for the ET.
I'm wanting to guesstimate what a 3800 lb. car with around 440whp is going to trap out there.

| i'd sure hope you could do a 13.5 or better. I'd say 12.8 or maybe a little better. Depends on how you do off the line though. I have a 4000lb truck with less than that rwhp, and with a perfect launch, I should be able to do a 13.5. sure wish the new mustangs didn't weigh so much. Whats the point of having more power if they are just gonna add a bunch of weight to them. | |

| The issue is more traction than weight. With a tire from what I have read on here a GT500 should run mid 12's. With street tires in the picture it gets pretty tough to get good sixty foot times. This is a manual car remember so it's even more finicky to launch.
I know BLUBLS has seen them run at the race track but he didn't mention the trap just the ET.
As far as weight goes everything is getting heavier. The mustang is actually significantly lighter than the new Camaro and Challenger. And isn't much heavier than an EVO or an STI. All the stuff they cram into cars these days, luxury items, safety, etc. adds up.

| I have mph written down somewhere from the International race. A GT500KR dynoed 470ish at the wheels ran like a 13.4-5 @ I think 107-109? stock non KR ran 13.7 at 106-107? I posted the times in another thread. I'll have to try and find the mph as my memory may be off. I think I still have them. I've seen a local yellow s197 with a blower. No idea on boost. It has black racing stripes and ran anywhere from 12.7 to 13.7 I think he's dealing with the traction issue. I believe it trapped somewhere around 112-114 on one good 12.7 pass I saw. I don't know if its an auto or manual, but guessing manual. I went 12.9 pullied at 109 and that was in the 420-430 rwhp range on drag radials.
I just havn't seen any other GT500's run up at Acton.

| I'm sure it won't run any faster than the traps you quoted. I'm surprised that the traps are so low for that much whp. I knew the air was bad out there.. But that is shockingly bad. | |

Make sure you're on drag radials and you should be fine breaking into the 12's with 111-114mph traps. I'm guessing your car is a manual with 8psi? Your right the traps surprise everyone, but they are what they are.

| Thanks Ryan I don't think I will bother taking the car out there until I can get a set of drag radials and probably also a line lock installed. And yep it's a manual 8.5psi.
I know Brett mentioned his car trapped higher at Denver than Acton which was also a surprise. Makes me wonder if Acton is one of top 5 worst tracks to race on in the lower 48 as far as the air goes.

Sub 110 traps with blown 420+whp cars. Wow that is terrible. As you two have already been discussing, it does seem bad but it resonable for Acton. My GTO with the Maggie on it was 420whp on Gary's dyno (so likely higher than that) and I don't think I was breaking 110mph (have to dig up my timeslips). My '02 Z06 was in the 108 range IIRC and that was with around 370 to the wheels in a light package. With boost you get a bit of an advantage at altitude over doing it naturally aspirated. You gotta remember though, that the 'advantage' is proportional to the amount of boost you are running. For instance, if you are running 30psi, you have a big advantage over a similar sea level whp N/A vehicle. However, if you are only running 5psi, that advantage shrinks considerably. That should be taken into account when correcting for altitude, the NHRA correction factors make a pretty broad assumption that the car is seeing about 14.7psi of boost. Above that should get less correction and below that should get more. Anyway, anybody around here will understand, the bummer is when a sea level person sees the numbers but doesn't understand altitude. Your e-peen can shrink a bit in those instances . You either are faced with educating those individuals, hoping someone else educates them, or just not posting your results on national forums.

| I took my 2012 Mustang GT out yesterday, my best run of the night was my first run
R/T .252 60' 2.115 330 5.691 1/8 8.585 MPH 85.07 1000 11.066 1/4 13.155 MPH 108.25
my last run was close to that one as well. got 4 runs in. Mods should show in my sig, but they are Steeda CAI and SCT Tune, 275/50/17 M&H Drag Radials.

| No, it shut down at about the 1000ft mark. I have some issues to work out. It ran 125mph the run before on the pump gas tune and only 13psi. I should be traping 130+ like last year. | |

Yeah, you had really bad air, go again when it is better air. And don't focus on the 13.1 part unless you put a tire under your car, look at the MPH to judge HP. My Z06 was 13.429@108.18 with a 2.25 60' (bone stock), you should be able to get ~108mph in yours too. The new 5.0s are strong, but 5.0 to C5Z, the Z should have a bit of a power to weight advantage, all things equal, and I think that shows with Jakes lightly modded 5.0 vs my stock C5Z MPHs.

Gotcha...well my car now has a vararam and a diablosport tune since I ran last...I have nitto 552 extreme R 2s... found out they are a R compound road racing tire with a stiff sidewall...might explain my 2.26 60'....maybe if jake is ever out we can go out to josh's spot and run em...thats if I still have my car since its for sale...

| Matt FYI but those 555R on your Z are drag radials not R compound road racing tires.
Nitto changed their lineup around this year. The 555R is still around and is still a drag radial according to their website. The NT05R is the new flagship drag radial. The 555RII is the road racing tire.
Mishri's 5.0 had a tire but IMO he's pretty hamstrung by his stock stall converter and tall factory gearing. He can only hit it so hard on the launch until those issues are addressed regardless of what tire he has on the car.
PS: The ford racing intake package does pretty much suck. But I understand your dad wanted to use that one in order to keep his warranty in place. Or so that was the thinking IIRC.

| I did some googling. Nitto changed the site around - the 555RII has been around for a while. It didn't used to show up on their website grouped along with the drag radials. So my bad there woops. That is why I thought it was a new tire.
What does it say on the sidewalls? Jake Peters showed those to me right after he put them on the car and I swear they were 555R. Maybe my memory is foggy. Could be premature ageing lol

| Without getting into a bunch more bench racing here in this thread. Your Z and his intake/tune 5.0 are very close as far as power to weight goes. If you look at Tom's trap with his Z and Jake's trap with his 5.0 they are both 108. Last Saturday the air was not good out there either, DA was pretty close to 6000'. IMO it's a driver's race at this point. I apologize for the confusion (on my part) over the tires. I had reasons for thinking they were 555R - but was incorrect. After thinking it over it was rude of me to insist I knew what was on YOUR car. If a person does that then they better be right about it. So my bad, woops, and sorry about that. | |

| I wont be back for awhile, i'm on call 24/7 so in order to leave town I have to get my co-worker in Helena to cover for me. He is off the weekend after this one, then I'm going out camping for 4th of july weekend so he has to cover for me then I'll probably be broke for awhile haha. Plus, this is the time of year work gets really busy. I would like to get into some much better air and see if i can pull off a 12.9 though. | |

Yeah, I'd like to see you get it out there again too. It really wouldn't take much to get to the 12s and you have quite a bit of room in your 60' to get it there. Do they just not launch that hard on the stock torque converter?

| I didn't try to max it out, I was following what someone else had told me on his 2011 auto, he got a 1.8 60' by leaving just above idle, so each pass I tried a bit higher, I think i'll try to max it out next time, I think my highest launch was at 1500 or so RPM. that one netted me the same 60' as my first pass with the 2.1, and near the same ET. (slightly slower) that one i had left just above idle, around 1,000. I just need to try a few more times. I was getting tired of running though, 4 passes in an hour, i wanted to let it cool down between runs but it was late, already past 10pm. | |

It was at spokane raceway park, you can see the name on the center divider. uploaded July 25, 2007 according to youtube. it's half the elevation of our track. I also don't see any proof in the vid, and he only has the 1 post back in feb so I guess he isn't getting added haha I know that post was awhile ago, just figured I would respond since I was curious as well. I've thought about going out there, it's only 5 and a half hours away from me.

| I am afraid that spokanes track is not half the elevation of our track, it is about 1200' difference. That is my little brothers car, which is resting here in montana! We will be making apperance with it in july!! | |

| spokane's track is at 1909', we are at 3720'... hmm.... so.. my math says 1800 ft less really close to half the elvation, and not 1200'.... good thing it will make an appearance in... July!! I want to see how it does up here. | |
