| Brett and I are looking into having Gary open up his dyno for a club dyno day and are needing to get a count on how many of would go. I realize it sucks to be an AWD (FTW right Shaun!! ) when it comes to dyno's around here, but I’m pretty sure FWD's will work (please speak up if you think of any limitations). I have a few new mods and have been itching to spin the rollers to help figure out my next move. We think the portable dyno would be easier all the way around, spectators included. A location away from G&C is also an option if someone has an idea, but noise ordinances may come in to play. The more we get the better chance at a group rate, so come on... it's for the good of the group! Probably a Saturday would work best, maybe a weekend or two after labor day?? Who's down? Scott | |

Brett have you mentioned this to Jake? He might want to do it after he gets that catless midpipe installed.

| Great idea, I'd love to come hang out and see some dyno runs. Wish I had a car to dyno. Be great to finally have everyone's number and curves laid out so no more bench racing arguments. | |

Good question Nik and possibly a sore subject for some!! I will just say that IMO his in-floor dyno is definately not high. But my experience is only with FI cars and that may have more to do with the evelation. I believe the NA cars get a more consistant reading at any elevation. SAE corrected of course. I think it would be fair to say that what you make on that dyno you could make anywhere.

| I got exactly what I expected when I made 460. Everyone always says it reads low but after about 30+ pulls I always had exactly what I expected for the current boost I was at. I even calculated the Airflow % through my MAF and was always about 2-5hp difference from what the Dyno told me. | |

| I would like to participate, but would need to know the price before committing, at least a range or rough idea. Dyno numbers don't really mean shit with an automatic, but it would be nice to see my power curve, and see if my shift points should need any tweaking. I'm trying to get the max low E.T. out of a stock engine, so all the little tweaks help. | |

| Can't recall what mine was SAE, being an FI setup i prefer uncorrected numbers. That's pretty common when tuning FI setups. I think it was 485 or something. Not too bad for a 2.0L ha ha. I need another one to play with. | |

Gary's everyday price was $75 for the 1st and $25 after that. When we had the local international mustang event we rented the portable for the weekend. Ryan (blubls) ran that part of the event, I believe we charged $30 for the first run and $10 for every run after that. That was a smoking deal , cause we were just looking to break even. We ended up still making money, but that was a solid day and 1/2 of back to back runs. Around 50 cars and over 100 pulls easy. We dont really have a clue what the cost would be until we give Gary a rough idea of a count, but i'm sure if we had 10-15 cars he'd help us out. As far as dynoing an auto being worthless, I don't think it is. I'd agree its a great tool for moding. Even if you're not in it for numbers it's good for seeing what each mod adds for your set up. My last dyno i didnt gain anything after i upgraded my throttle body. This was after several intake mods and confirmed that i needed to get rid of some back pressure. So we did some long tubes and deleting my cats. On one series of pulls i did a pulley swap to see if the gains were worth the intake temps that came with the increase in boost and it was!

Count me in then. What I'm saying is, for automatics, the HP number on a chassis dyno, and the E.T. and MPH at the drag strip often do not even come close to lining up with each other. Especially with a looser converter. The E.T. & MPH taking the weight into consideration, is the more accurate number, IMHO.

Brett talked to Gary on Tuesday and it sounds like he will give us a half day of the portable dyno. The cost should be $50 for 2 pulls and Brett was going to confirm Saturday September 24th worked for Gary. The location is still up in the air, but we were looking at possibly doing it at my shop located west of 64th on King Ave. Its paved w/ plenty of parking and out of the city limits. The cost is pretty much set and its a great deal. The date and location are subject to change. Brett, feel free to fill in the blanks or correct me.

| Things are coming together on this end even though Brett has been busy screwin off. He has assured me he will confirm the date with Gary soon and post up. We have 6 or so people off-line that have also commited. I think we have a new 5.0 Mustang coming and (you guessed it) a few other mustangs. Here is the list i have from the forum. Let me know if you would like to be added or taken off.
Brett (K&K) Ryan (Blubls) Nik (Blue Steel) Shaun (SMD) Waylon (Flaminghellcat) Pending work Chirs (Novaflash2002) Pending the tranny swap Josh L. (HIVOLTJ) Rob (Turbo1K) Sam (Ghost) Scott (Wireman)
We have room for more and are counting on some brave spectators stepping up. It'd be nice to have a variety of makes and models.

| I had a little trouble with my car the other week. I thought it was something major but only a spark plug problem and the water pump destroyed it's self (I guess the stock water pump doesn't like 7000rpm) . I thought I was gonna have to rebuild the whole engine! I have it apart, but now I finally have new bigger injectors and will either install my old meth kit back or or a intercooler. I am finally gonna turn up the boost and see what it does. | |

No, but i wish it was. It will do FWD and RWD vehicles. He's done a lot of quads and a few bikes too. Some of the newer vehicles have sensors on the non drive wheels that require disconnecting. I know the new F150s are that way, or i'd consider doing my ecoboost just to see what it makes. It is still possible, it just takes a little more work. It still looks like it will be on Saturday the 24th unless Gary can't make it. Brett will veriry and let us know soon.

No location set yet? We had a VERY generous offer to have it at JB's Automotive. John was super cool and was going to let us have it at his shop on the north end of the old Kmart building which is a great location. He was also willing to advertise and help round up some more cars, but we saw it having the potential to quickly escalate into a major, all day event. Too many people would make it hard to control from a safety and liablitiy aspect. I took the liberty of calling this thread "MAEC dyno day", even though this is not an official sanctioned event. It would be a great opportunity for the club to have that kind of exposure, but we didn't feel it was our decision to make. So THANK YOU John @ JB's Auto. Maybe next time! We decided off-line to have a low key trial run see how it shakes out. So for now it looks like it will be at... 610-7 Lohwest Lane West on King Ave west Right on Lohwest (1st street after 64th street west) Last building on the left

| We are still a go for next Saturday. We will start at 9:00am. The location has not changed. It is at 610-7 Lohwest Lane off of King Ave west.
Here is the revised list of people that have committed from the forum. Brett (K&K) Ryan (Blubls) Nik (Blue Steel) Shaun (SMD) Waylon (Flaminghellcat) Pending work Chirs (Novaflash2002) Pending the tranny swap Josh L. (HIVOLTJ) Rob (Turbo1K)
Sam (Ghost) Scott (Wireman) Tom (X2's freind in the Mach1)
Off line we have a few more mustangs that have committed. We have stock 2011 GT, a stock 2007 GT500 and a pair of 5.0L SN95s on the bottle.
We should be able to do around 15 cars in 5 hours and hopefully if all goes as planned we will be done by 1:00pm.
