help i cant get my vids on my computer

ok yes im not very comp literate .
i have taken alot vid with my sony video camera, all on to those mini dvd . now i cannot get the vid off the disc and on to my computer . . i just bought comp. last spring . so its new .

ive loaded the programs from the cmaera onto the comp . but i still cannot get them to transfer . any help would be appreciated . this is drivin me nuts

Are you trying to load them into a specific program right now? Like, when you pop in the disc does it load something up first?

ive tried to just get them to go into my movie folder . its windows vista? there sum specific way to get the movies from the disc to my hardrive. becasue i cannot get then to transfer to movies maker .

basically i have no idea what to do to get then onto my comp in anyway .
like i said im not to comp savy . but i would like to make sum movies with all the vid i have taken

Try this and see if it works. Open up my computer(or whatever it is called in vista), right click on your cd/dvd drive and choose open(if that doesn't work try "explore"), then see if you can just drag and drop everything from the disc onto your desktop.

ok it downloaded into a folder with 3 file types
video_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS
neither one of these file types r reconized by movie maker

VTS_01_1
is reconized and playable in photo gallery . problem bein is when i move it to moveimaker its only 2 sec long and or it just shows the menu from the disc .
im tryn to move the entire 20+min onto the movie maker program . and i cannot figure out whats goin on.

question- would buy a new non winbdows movie maker program be a better than messin with windows movie maker . would it reconize these files type or am i goin to have the same problem

Hay Sam try a new video editor I use Adobe Premere to download and edit my videos. The only down fall is that you have to steal it from an iso and it takes a lot of time to learn.On the other hand I did find a free program that is pretty simple to use it is called Video Pad Video Editor the link is http://videopad-video-editor.en.softonic.com/ You can hook up the camera by a usb or firewire cable and control the camera with the software or take the video on your computer and import them into the program to edit them. Download this and play with it a little. if you have any problems hit me back.

I know the feeling I got so pissed that i had all kinds of footage that i lock myself in my room for about three weeks and learned that adobe program. pain in the ass but well worth it to make cool videos and have them all in order on the computer. One thing you should do is make a backup of your videos on a disk and put it somewhere safe just incase of a computer crash. Been there done that and it sucks to lose all the work that is put into it. Good luck and praying for the track 16 oz at a time.

i got all my vids on sony mini dvr s so back up aitn a problem im just a comp dumbass an cant do aNYTHING with um if u catch my drift . had this comp for ayear still cant hardly use it

well i tried it . i cannot get the converter to open the files . it says creat folder . i click ok then it says it cannot create folder

id there a easy movie maker program that will reconize these mini dvds? like at best buy or sumthin im losin my paticence im afraid

Tell me what your video camera is exactly model number and make and I'll look into it and see what I can come up with. If you could all so email me the video folder you are trying to work with (you might have to compress it by zipping it) I can see what I can do with it. My email is qwklx@hotmail.com. It's hard to say what is going on with out sitting right in front of your computer you know.
