| I think the biggest problem paving the road and spending a bunch of money on it is just like everything else, car guys always say man if we had _______, I'd so pay to do it. But just like the many people who say if someone bought a dyno they would use it all the time, I'd bet the added cost wouldn't change the number of people very much. I don't love the road but if my car is ready to race I don't see any problems driving it out there. Racing your car at 100+ mph can cause just as many if not more damage to your car and we all do that. If your that worried about the looks you probably shouldn't be racing it and should have it parked on 24th or some car show. I just don't seem anyway the money spent paving the road would be made back unless its over a 10 year period or something. | |

| Well according to the site they have removed all the rubber on the track and purchased a new "state-of-the-art" traction compound so the high-horsepower cars can run, and everything is still on scheduale for this weekend.
I'll be installing new axles and brakes tonight, so depending on how lucky I feel..... I may head up and do a couple runs tomorrow night so I can get a time slip before it's all shut down.......

WTH, "state of the art" traction compound, that sounds like a recipe for disaster. What is wrong with plain ol' VHT?

| ok my dad is on the board of directors for the BDRA and this is what i heard from him. there is to be NO traction compound used on the track. no V.H.T or anything. so if your car is faster than a 13 your going to have one hell of a time keeping it straight. also this guy has closed the beer gardens. there is to be no alcohol at the track period...wtf whats racing without a little beer?! i will be amazed if this track opens up this weekend. im not trying to jynx it or anything, and i really hope it does open up. but i wont race out there if there is no track prep or V.H.T. i have enough trouble hooking up as it is. hope it opens up though. | |

| WTF. The website says
"The races are still scheduled for this weekend. We have removed all of the rubber on 330′ of the concrete. This will make the dragstrip safe to run fast/high horsepower cars. We have purchased a new brand of traction compound. Its state-of-the-art in traction technology. The traction compound will be applied to the full quarter mile before the races begin on Friday. You are welcome to bring out your high horsepower cars to Test and Tune Friday night."
Hopefully hes not lying to us about the track being prepped. Im going out, but i won't be happy if I do 3 gear burnouts.

| If this really does end up being the last weekend the place is open. I'm guessing Friday could be it. Rain is in the forecast for Saturday.
I hadn't planned on going Friday but I may change my mind tomorrow. I haven't made a final decision yet. I had some other plans and my father in law is in town. But depending on how things go I may show up out there after work Friday.
If the track conditions haven't improved significantly then it will be a pretty short visit. I'm not gonna waste my time again. A few tries and that will be it. Considering how few people are likely to show that should take all of about a half hour.

| I'd head out to watch (Assuming there's more than 8 cars running) but I'm stuck in ND waiting on a broke down drilling rig.
I have no faith in this season being worth a damn.

| Weak. Cancel it because its Memorial Day Weekend?! Now doesn't that seem like an idiotic thing to do - Its a weekend everyone has off and could potentially be out there. This year is shot at this point, in my eyes... | |

What is the closest, high quality, drag strip to Billings that is under 2000' elevation? Spokane?

| Track is closed and not because of weather. Just saw something on the news about it and Gillis is getting out as 95% of the racing community is against him (according to the news).
All I have to say is.... YAY!!!
