This is the first Kognition S14 Chassis mount setup. He is now building the same wing for Chris Rado to compete down under in the new AWD Scion TC. He has been finalizing the design for both the S13/S14 chassis as well as the Evo 9 and S2000. I was the first to jump in and help him when his business was slow during the winter so he made mine his first priority. Pretty sweet to get serial number 001 on his newest version the Variant 1.1, should arrive Monday. Its made of dry carbon with a carbon waxed surface to give it a smooth shiny finish that will resist fading better than most carbon fiber. Its also adjustable from 14 to 18 degrees in .5 increments to avoid having to double check angles at the track. It is designed using the wing off the Willams formula 1 wing.

^^^^ just the flash hitting the reflective material. In those pics it does make it look lit up!

I am looking forward to some 100+mph corner entries this year, so when some kids says nice wing... does that add down force. You can say, here look at this photo of my car at Miller Motorsports park... notice how much the back is being forced down!

Yep I can't wait for someone to laugh and ask if it makes my car faster, I'll quickly reply "Yes it does". Should help out a lot and the CFD results show this thing will make some pretty good downforce.

I know most people will hate it. I didn't want one and still am not sure I'll ever really like the looks. But for me I'll take function over form any day. This is one of the few US made fully functional wings that isn't over $2500. With his first couple prototype's for wind tunnel testing and a few competitive cars they helped to destroy track records and a guy in a C5 corvette took a full second off his time.

He's also one of the few that realized how pointless it was to trunk mount a wing when most trunks are so flimsy and don't transfer much of the energy to the chassis. Ever since he started doing this you can see many Redline Time attack and other competitive race leagues are now full of cars that have used this idea with great success. Now I just need to build a splitter for the front to help balance everything out.

Depending on the angle anywhere from 30 mph. They create almost 800 ft/lbs of downforce around 100 mph. I haven't gotten the CFD charts for mine yet and the length and end plates make a big difference but I think mine should be around that. I'll post my charts once I get them.

so basically you are saying it will give you an ass load of downforce at not really screaming to screaming mph? cool, so you should be able to really pile into the corners then right? King

I hope so, but now the balance may be off so I will probably need to work on the front end before long. Right now I have too much power with too little tire. I hope that one of these days I'll have money and buy some bigger rear tires and pull my fenders. But for now I'll probably keep spending money on my girls.

think it will create enough downforce to make the car not want to steer at speed? or are you putting a lip spoiler on it too?i've seen videos of cars with wings that work good enough to damn near pull the fronts up enough that steering is a no-go

I have been asking him this same question. If you see the angle of attack on this thing in person, it seems like its going to make the front end lift off the ground!
I think he does plan on doing something for the front splitter or some sort of front lip to create some equallying down force on the front of the car.

I hope it creates that much downforce. I want to do the front but we'll see if I get the funds somehow or I have to sell my body which ain't gonna get me much.

Ha ha not really, that was before we cut the holes in the quarter panels. Thanks to Cap'n for coming over and cutting up my car when I was second guessing this idea.

Good bye subtle, hello function! IMG_6229

Sucky pictures and my car is a mess from all that went on with painting the cage and installing all the interior this weekend.

We taped and covered everything and primed the cage one night, painted it the next, cleaned it all up. Then installed my harnesses and the interior back in. Then cut holes for the wing. Seems like we got a lot done since Thursday night. Now its time to relax tomorrow then finish up the wing install next week so I can test it out.

You can only open the trunk about a foot until it comes in contact with the trunk, bit the wing is easy to take off the stands of he needs to really get in the trunk.

Yes Sir. I think he is planning on adding a some more bracing in the trunk where the stands mount, but he drove it to work Thursday and it's sweet!

Check out Kognition's website, he's done more than a few Suby's now and all the cars that are running his wings are killing track records all over. I wish I would have kept mine since it was serial #1 and the guy who bought my car doesn't need or want a wing since he's drifting it.
