| Well, I don't know anything about ford rear assemblies, so someone else can chime in if I am way off base, but just from the spline count I would say they wouldn't be interchangable. | |

| well cause im probably gonna get a whole new drivetrain setup in my mustang and i dont know which one to go with. the 31 spline is more expensive but i dont know if thats cause they are better or not. | |

| 28 spline is stock for a 8.8 u can just change your axles to a heat treated ones witch are i little bit stronger than stock and leave the stock carrier. 31 spline is bigger thicker axles for heaver duty app like racing but u gotta change you carrier to a 31 spline unit. there are also 33, 35 spline axles . I got 31 spline on my mustang with a eaton trak lok works great and i make a good amount of power . | |

| nice i got another quick question ive heard both. does a limited slip diff only let one tire spin or does it allow both to spin. cause i though limited slip was made for LIMITED tire slip and posi was made so both spun. | |

| Limited slips allow both tires to spin while traveling in a straight line, but the tires reach a certain difference in speed, it loosens, acting like an open diff.
Also, 31 spline axles are stronger (hence why they are more expensive). Lots of people think 28 splines are stronger because the teeth is bigger, but the part that matters is that there are MORE teeth, so the torque gets divided over a greater area. | |

| o so then why am i only able to spin one when i burnout. i have a feeling its due to lack of power. | |

| Might be. Are you sure you have a limited slip? What kind of car is it? | |

| The clutch's in your limited slip could be worn out, if thats the case she will be a one tire fire. | |
