| My daughter had a fever for a couple of days but last night she had what the doctor called a feberal siezure that he said was caused by a moderate spike in her fever. She froze up, looking into space, not responding, and scariest of all NOT BREATHING!! We jumped in the car and drove as fast as I could to the hospital while attempting to give her mouth to mouth. We got to the ER and she started to breath normally and all the tests came back negative. So... I have some suggestions for parents of young children.
1. Control fever, even if the doc says its all good. Her temp at the doctors office earlier in the day and even right before the incident was well inside the normal temp for a kid her age.
2. BOTH parents NEED cpr training, end of story.
3. Be ready, it can happen in the blink of an eye. Have shoes, keys, diapers, bottles, etc. ready to go because if something like this happens you dont want to have to scramble for your keys.

| Thanks guys, I was very surprised to see how fast it went from sick baby to catastrophic. Everyone who spends time around kids needs to be on the lookout. | |

| Oh little Sophia. I was worried about her when I left your house on Moday. I am glad my little niece is ok because I don't know what I would do without her. I love how she comes running to me when I come over. She is such a doll. | |

| Febral seizures occure in roughly 5% of young children who have a high fever. They are not related to epilepsy. They do however come with all the risks of an epileptic episode. Not terribly dangerous but very scary to someone who hasnt seen one before. The doc said if it happens again, time it. Any longer than 15 min. go to the hospital. They made it sound like it wasnt that big of a deal, and maybe it wasnt. But it was enough to drive like 100mph from the hieghts to billings clinic, which might have been fun if it werent for the crap situation. | |

| Not sure if I would wait around for 15 mintutes, pretty sure you need to get on the road ASAP!! Doctors are so stupid these days (not all of them). | |

| Glad it worked out alright. Thanx for the heads up (CPR & stuff). I'm with Mike^. If it's gonna be longer than 15 minutes, I want to be at the hospital on minute 16, not leaveing my house. | |

| They seemed to think that the episode would stop if the brain lost enough oxygen for her to pass out. Just like if you held your breath until you passed out or if somebody put you in a sleeper hold... and you didnt tap haha. Shes fine now thanks for the positive resonse everyone. | |

| When I was little I went into convulsions because of a high fever. They did a spinal tap on me to see if there was any brain damage, which there wasn't. My parents said it was terrifying.
Glad she is ok, that must have been scary as hell.
