Keep 'Hit and Run' in business! [MEET: Oct 25 '09 / 12:00pm]

I'm starting a thready on Dougie Fresh's behalf.

Apparently, due to lack of business, 'Hit and Run' off of Wicks in the Heights is going to be closing down. They've lowered their prices quite a bit to try to stimulate some business. What do you all think about having a meet over there sometime, try to keep them afloat a bit longer? Their fries are AWESOME.

They do have some dank food there! I'd be down Stephen! In fact you've givin me the idea to go there for lunch today

Lets do it. i always forget about it, and it is only about a mile and a half away from my house.

So how long do we have? We should set a date and time.

I went there once when it was fairly new. The food wasn't bad, but the prices were atrocious. I might swing down there now since they dropped them to up some business though, give 'em a second chance.

I would be down to hit it up. Lets shoot for next weekend. I will change the thread.

No doubt; hopefully it's more affordable now. My only problem with them is the wait time, but most of the time the food is worth the wait. It's about the closest thing we have to an In-and-Out Burger here.

I have heard the prices are almost cut in half. That is pretty sweet. The only reason I never go there is I dont feel like spending $10 for something I can get at Wendys for $8, not to mention Wendys is better.

I'm gonna be in town for a wedding, I'd enjoy swinging by for a burger and some automotive chat.
Satruday night 24th after 7 is good for me, or even perhaps lunch on Sunday 25th, just to put that out there.

If you folks "cruise" on Saturday night, where does that take place?

Ya, that's the one.

This turned out pretty good on Sunday. The guy that Doug has been talking to on this welcomed us when he got there and told us that if we continue to go to Hit and Run after our meets they will honor a 10% on the total ticket of our order (if everyone pays together)

I have never even ate at this place. Have they been open a year even? I would have thought they would have done well with skyview
so close to them.

They just opened up this year. I figured the high school kids woulda kept it up pretty good.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

It was a sad combination of excellent business placement and terrible business strategy.

I really dont feel that the prices are that bad. i just always forget about it. thats about what i would spend at any other fast food place.

Maybe not for a slice of pizza(depending on the size), but $4 for a double cheeseburger!?!?! $4.75 for 2 chicken strips and fries?!? No please. Now, i will be swinging by there tomorrow to see if this so called price cut is real, and if it is you can guarantee I will be there often, but tomorrow is when i will make my verdict.


Now back on topic, I will help any local business stay afloat, I don't want anyone to think I refuse to help these guys.

What does Doug have to do with this place? Him or his family own it?

One of my co-workers at Ace Hardware, her husband is a cook/manager there. Trying to help him keep a job in these economic troubles we are in.

Fries and a soda are an extra $2.25 though. Which brings said total to $6.25 for a double cheese, fries, and a drink. Unless we are talking about world class quality here, the price range is just too high for too little. Once again, don't get me wrong, I'm all about small business in town, and I will support pretty much everyone, but when I can just go a little ways farther down the street and hit Wendy's or BK, i'd take losing another 8 minutes and saving 3 dollars a day, especially in high school, where the kids more often than not are set on a food budget by parents and don't have jobs.
Just my $.02, but $6 is a little high for most kids.

Well, how many fast food places do you walk into that are FILTHY. Makes me second guess my food.. I have also gotten food poisoning from every single fast food place in town EXCEPT taco joints. Hit And Run has a very very very clean place. Why do you go to Jakes? or Roadhouse, why do you put better oil in your car? The product that you are spending money on appeases you more then the other. I personally would rather eat hit and run everyday before getting shit service from mcdonalds, wendy's, KFC etc.

Hit and run reminds me of a mom and pop store. That is my 2 cents... Gotta go, work calls!

food is the worst business to invest in. it's the only business where your product goes bad . Too much risk and not enough gain. Any food place must be run with 100% food cost in mind at all times to really turn any type of profit, unfortunely most do not have this discipline or skill. Trust i've worked in restaurants for yrs in managment positions even. Also i've never even heard of this place so no one is investing in marketing of any kind. I gotta give this place a shot, but unfortunely we live in a generation that is too damn worried about saving a dollar or 2 over quality and good ethics. Places like wal mart and other corporations are the poison that has ruined alot of jobs and dreams for small business owners. Regulation is needed and out sourcing needs to stop. Fuck fast food cept taco bell cause that stuff is awesome! haha

if any of you guys like thai food check out that fmaily owned Siam Thai just off king. best fried rice i've ever had in my life... sorry for the dirfting of the thread. can't help but debate certain issues.

Remember for the longest time making a buck wasn't the most important thing. Greed is the strongest it's ever been in history. It really makes me want to move to a country in europe or australia where the corporate world the almight "paper" doesn't rule every decision made.

+1. We have gone to hit run numerous times on Subie Sunday and the prices are affordable and the food is very good. The fries are amazing. Besides the restraunt is very clean and it be sad to see them go out of business. I will be going there for lunch tomorrow.

I would have to say this last Sunday was great. Doug and I both ate for about 8 bucks I believe. Prices are down quite a bit from last time. I think Jeremy spent about $12 or so and he got a salad, 2 double cheese burgers and 2 fries. He was hungry.

I couldn't believe Jeremy ate all that! Skinny kid sure can eat!

I find it hard to believe, and funny at the same time, that a group guys that can easily justify $450 for fuel injectors has an issue with a $5 burger... ...lol...
