| On Saturday 10/9/10, I got a call from my friend Jim in Sheridan about a deal that has been 4 years in the making. I am now the proud owner of Syclone #2518.
Some of you might have known Ron Etchemende in Sheridan, WY. Ron was a true gear head who maintained a nice collection of classic muscle. Among his collection was a '91 Syclone that in '06 I was trying to buy from him and when that fell through, trying to help him sell (Ron wasn't computer savvy so I was helping with forums / ebay / etc). When he passed suddenly in '07, his collection was put on ice and then sold off over the next few years. At least 2 other times, I had been in serious consideration on buying the Syclone (I wanted one of Ron's cars to remember him by and already had interest in the Sy). His wife Kim had since remarried and moved out of state and now they finally have sold the house in Sheridan, thus she was very interested in a quick sell on the Sy to get it out of the way. Basically, her offer was one that I couldn't pass up and I made the deal on Saturday, drove to Sheridan and came back home with the Sy.
The truck has a couple modest modifications done to it, is exceptionally clean inside and out, and short of a fix here and there I expect to be leaving it as is. Give a wave if you see me out and about with it, weather permitting I'll have it out for a cruise night or two this fall.
I should be able to get a few photos of it while the weather is nice, I'll post them up when I do.

Of coarse..... my list of dream vehicle is about two dozen cars long. lol ' Haha, I know what you mean, so many cool cars, so little time to own them all. The Sy has just been one of those vehicles that I have always liked. They weren't that flashy but had the underpinnings to be a great street toy (turbo 6, AWD, auto tranny). Now that some years have gone by, they have become special, collectable, and harder to get a nice one. Mostly just car people turn their heads at them though, normal people just see an old S-10. I can't wait to get all the little bugs worked out. Biggest is a noisy lifter or rocker that I'm going to have to do minor surgery to get to. Otherwise, it is solid, just normal maintenance and upkeep. I'll probably go into the valve cover tonight to check the rockers, if it is a lifter, then I'll wait until winter downtime. Figure a rocker could cause trouble, a lifter is just going to make noise.

LOL, that would probably be a bargain as messy as it is around here, hahah. Other than it being cooler, the weekend might yet yield some pictures. It is getting dark too damn fast now after work . Need to hit up the carwash to knock the 3 years of dust off the poor thing too. Wonder if there will be a subi scrub on Sunday?

Yeah, I'm terrible about tunnel vision. Sorry man. I'm just motoring it around gently for now, it has a rocker or lifter ticking that I need to play with and then it has a 3bar map / tune on it which I guess makes the "less than accurate" stock boost gauge "useless", so I don't know what boost it is pushing. Going to have to throw a gauge on it before I get on it at all. So many unknowns on something like this, fun and scary at the same time.

Yeah that's best thing about them. People would never guess that a little s10 or jimmy would run that good. Hell ii watched a modded lighting vs a stock syclone and the syclone worked it hard. Awd turbo V6 ftw

Awd turbo V6 ftw I think I saw that same video too. If I remember correctly the owner of the lightning said the syclon was quick but not fast. Haha yeah he got owned.

I have yet to get out and take nice photos. I snapped this one for another forum on Friday, just off my cell phone. The weather, while it hasn't been bad, hasn't quite cooperated when I had time.

LOL, yeah, it was sick humor on my part making that post. I couldn't help myself though, I knew car people would know what it was. the Rice vs. Race post was just dying for a post like that though .

| Congrats that's awesome. I've always loved Syclones. Even though I'm a diehard ford guy Sy's still are my all time favorite truck. I've been close to buying one a few times just never pulled the trigger. It's #2 on my next vehicle to buy list right behind a 2000 Cobra R.
The thing thing is people either know what they are or have no clue. Most dont since they are rare.
