thanks everyone, hopefully things work out with the tire clearing might have to do some more rolling and maybe a slight pull.

nate when you get a chance post up the full specs of your old setup and then your new one and I will start figuring out what will work for you!
rim width offset tire sizes camber (you have camber plates in the front right? any adjustability in the rear?)
if it doesn't require a little bit of work then the fitment must have been too weak to begin with! looks like you are on the right track!

old: 18x8.5 et35 w/(15mm spacer in front and 20mm in rear) 215/40 front camber plates max out, stock rear arm and non-adjustable camber plates in rear
new: 18x10 et25 w/(15mm spacer in front and 20mm in rear) need 15mm in front to clear z32 brakes same camber
im thinking 225/40 or 225/35 in the front and 235/40 for the rear what do you think bone

Nate, from everything I looked at your tire sizes you are suggesting look good. The only question will really be how well the tires stretch and what the guy's at the shop think about it!
I would stick with the lowest sidewall possiable. Once you get the tires I think you will be able to find a happy medium between ride height and fender rolling that keeps things looking clean and not rubbing.
Jason ran 245's with a +12 offset, so you will be at +10 and +5 with smaller tires so in theory it sounds good to me!

so are you saying i should 225/35 in the front and 235/35 in rear are do you think the 40 series will work instead
Subject: Re: 18x10's on a s14a (needs work w/NEW PICS) October 19th 2010, 8:56 pm
40 series should be ok but the 35 would be easier to fit. I had 245/40/18's with a +12 offset so a 235 should work great. I can always help ya roll the fenders if ya need.

I think you will be happier with the look of the 35 series if you can get them. I know that 35 series is usually harder to find.

I would go with mounting the tire on the rim...anywhere else on the car might look funny and wouldn't be very effective! (jk) Love those rims - should look great on your car.

holy shit your crazy man. looks good but your still crazy. i just couldn't put a lip out there like that. for me id always be worried about curbing them. thats probably why i went with a 11 inch tire on a 9.5 wheels gives me a little room to play.

Making it fit! But it also offers a stiffer sidewall as long as its not overdone, resulting in more consistent turn in. The look started with European cars a long time ago that wanted wide concave wheels, or big lips but couldn't fit the tires to match. Its been a very popular thing along many rwd Japanese cars for a while now.
For overall performance a wider tire is still beneficial, but its a matter of fitment and owners preference.

^^^ my fronts are maxed on the camber plates and the rears have too much neg. camber, any more just would wear the tires on the inside. more neg. camber = wider tire

yeah i know all about how it wears on tires. i had 3 degrees in the rear on my car and it wore out my tires fast. i just suggested it cause i know i have seen a lot of 240's that have ridiculous camber set ups.
