no, just looking for something that can be a DD while building it..although, something already done wouldn't be too bad either, then i can just buy a project too.

have at it, with all the money problems going on in this town you should be able to pick up a clean sweet dd for what you got. just dont jump on the first thing you see.

yeah, looking at a couple built turbo honda's right now, they would be some fun, haha.

just remember, buying an already modded car can bite you in the ass faster than uncle sam at tax time. you never really know what you got until you break it and tear it down afterwords.

yeah, well, this car was built by a kid one of my good friends knows, and my friend said it was done right, so idk..but i am looking at alot more haha..haven't decided the route of which i want to take yet.

Just a heads up, it will be nearly impossible to DD a car while you are building it, unless you plan on pulling all-nighters to finish your engine build before you have to work the next day.
My opinion?
Hop on craigslist. Buy a piece of shit car for $1k. As long as it runs reliably, looks aren't a factor. Spend $2 on a project car and save the other grand for parts and tools.

well i have a little crx thats a pretty good little car. it a 88 Si with a b16 out of a 2000 civic Si. it does needs some work but i feel its priced right. im looking get 2800. you can check it out some time. heres a few pictures.



but like i said i does need alittle work. but over all its a good car. i just want to build a hatch or something. when im done with the ss.

There's an '88 Nissan 240sx with a 5 speed for sale over on 11th St N behind the hospitals. Just drove past it. It's red, and body is in great shape. Has 200k miles, but it seems like the guy's taken care of it. Said he's askin $3500.

So are you lookin for a coupe to race, or a sporty daily driver, or what?

I am guessing you have a typo on the year. there was no 240sx in '88 the first year we had them state side was the '89. Before that they where the 200sx, see sprockcapn' car for an example.

FYI $3500 is way too much for a stock 240sx especially if it is in fact an '89. They are SOHC gutless wonders. After '89 they got DOHC and those engines can be pretty decent. My opion, a clean running stock 240 is not worth more than $2000 at most. But again I know a lot about them and also not affraid to drive to seattle to get cars so what I am willing to pay is a lot less than someone who only will look in Billings.

BTW: The Chevy Corvette people killed the Pontiac Fiero program before it ever got off the ground. A shame really. could have been a great car. The Vette people were afraid of the competition.

the guy with the 240 wont go lower then like 3000. i talked to him adn he's ;lookin to sell his harly and that for a Mercedes so good luck talkin him down. its in good shape but has 199xxx and grinds in 2nd and 3rd. good body for a swap tho... about it...

People in Billings seem to have a distorted few of the value of 240's. Granted they are hard to find around here but the couple hundred dollars in travel time to look outside the state does not warrant, paying several thousand more.

Look on Craigslist at the guy asking $4000 for the 95 240 with a bad tranny... he can keep calling himself an infiniti/nissan expert all day long but he clearly is out of his mind. I also love his statement about the ka24de being the better motor than the sr20det because it is a 2.4l. I will give him the fact that the KA does have a larger displacement, but he doesn't realize the SR is boosted and has tons of potential without tearing into the engine...

Sorry rant over... but the sad thing is someone will buy these over priced cars at some point.



Since 240's have been discussed on here, if someone is interested and willing to travel to Spokane, there is a 95 SE 240sx for sale for $1500. It has primer spots and needs some TLC. But it is the best 240sx chassis you can get as far as options go. It has 5-lug stock, the DOHC motor and a VLSD. Send me a PM if your interested or look on Craigslist.

the guy in billoings kept saying and talking about a sr16 twin turboed motor lol. i think he just likes to talk alot.

if anybody finds a nice subaru, or mitsubishi, or really anything ROOMY, and NICE, and preferably fairly fast, for like $4500, let me know..im dying, haha.

i have a 1995 vr6 thats fast and roomy. 2200 and its yours. needs some work but even then you'll be below book for cost.

I will give you some quick words of wisdom that might help you out in the long run. Figure out what you want first and then start looking. Before I saw you on the forum you contacted me about my 240. Clearly you can see in my pics that the car is stripped out and caged. Is that something you had planned on driving to highschool? It sounds like you already got into trouble with your first car and now you are just using the shotgun approach to find a new one.

Save yourself and your family the headache of chasing down wild dreams with cars and figure out what you want and why you want it. Then go looking for it. If a 2.5rs is what you really want than keep searching for one and saving your money in the mean time.

That is my "old man" speach for the day, but I hope you slow down a little and figure out what it is you want... so when you do get a new car it is something you are happy with and hold onto for awhile.
