Federal Job Question....TSA Airport Security?

Anyone know anybody that works for TSA? I'm having nightmares going threw the application process. 5 months into it and I"m only 2/3 finished. Someone experienced similiar problems?

I've gotten alot of vibe that the turnover rate is 25% due to work quality, hours, pay, etc.... Ranked 220th most loved FED job...lowest of FED paid employees. Been told by the time I'm hired it's usually 9-12 months.....I dunno how the hell TSA hires people making them wait that long.

A guy I work with was trying to get on with them. They said they sent him some online questionaire to fill out. He can't even open the file. No one will even call him back about the problem he's having........ I think he pretty much gave up. Personally I think it would suck at our rinky dink airport we have here. It might be better in large cities where you actually have something to do non-stop thru the day. Would make the shift go by faster anyway.

Well it's better than the job I have now. The current job I got has no benefits, hours suck, get schedule for the week...day before (8 hours before).., pay sucks, spend my own money on equipment...

I hate it.

TSA pay sucks also. But it's still descent at $15 an hour in Billings with full benefits. I just wana get into the federal system and apply for a better job in a year in. I'm at the Airport Assessment part (interview, medical, background.)....after that once it's done I'm hired and in oreintation and training.

Ugh I can't stand my job and coworkers. I will become a slave at GS-1 to just get a federal job.

My ex-husband was one of the first TSA employees to be hired in Billings. The hiring process was long and drawn out, if I remember correctly - about 4-5 months. He was hired, but lasted less than a year at the job because he hated it. There was lots of drama, and the supervisors were very unprofessional (lots of favoritism). He was late once - really, ONCE - his alarm didn't go off due to a power failure, and he had to sit down with his supervisor and write out a list of what he was going to do to ensure it didn't happen again. Pretty riduculous if you ask me! He came home every day stressed out, pissy, and dreaded going to work every day. His benefits weren't that great - I manage at Micky D's and my insurance was cheaper and better than his - seriously. I also made more than him at the time, in my lowly fast-food world.
