2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca

Always liked Mustangs, but the new Boss 302 Laguna Seca is the first one that I really want. With a claimed 440hp and 1.03g lateral acceleration it must be one helluva track beast. Think the interior is sick also with the Recaros and rear seat delete.

not a ford guy either but you gotta hand it to ford to start building cars to try to compete with a vette on a road course!!! the only drawback I see is the price... if the price is close to a shelby I would believe that people would buy the shelby instead... kind of like the grand sport corvette compared to the z06... might as well spend a lil more and get the z06 in my book....

Price might be up higher if it's a LE car. Maybe they aren't making that many of them?

speaking of new stangs... my dad just bought the 2011 white california special 5.0..... i drove it around for an hour...not a bad car...

I've actually been reading quite a lot about the new Mustangs. I was thrilled to hear that the Boss was going to have a forged motor (anyone else thinking... boost?). My thrill dropped when I found the tidbit that yet another higher than normal performance Mustang (Cobra, GT500, now Boss) will not be offered in an automatic. My main love is drag racing, and I'd vastly prefer to drag race an auto, so check another car off the potential list. Z28 might still be on the list though .

For pricing, I guess they are giving one away and you know how they have to define value on give aways, they stated it as 40,000 value. Problem might initally be if dealers artificially inflate the values. I've heard 10k over but that will make it as or more expensive than a GT500. At that point, the main buying interest would be from collectors and diehard enthusiasts. When they come down to earth and you can buy one for MSRP (or gasp, less), it will be an interesting void filler between the GT and the GT500.

The Laguna Seca package will probably be tight supply / demand, but not my thing since I prefer straight line and the extra cornering prowess would be largly lost on me.

I've never really owned a real Ford performance car (unless you cound my 89 Taurus SHO or the 3 days that I "owned" a '03 Cobra). I have seriously considered a '11 Mustang though.

The 5.0 with the upgraded parts is supposed to pull off better numbers than the E92 M3 in a lot of categories, including lap times at Laguna Seca. The extra oomph (both drivetrain wise and chassis/suspension wise) with the Boss 302 LS edition make me want SOOO BAD!
