Custom exhaust on Audi A6

So...my boss wants a custom exhuast put on his Audi A6 4.2 V8.....because, well, nothing is made for his engine. Everything is made for the 3.5V8 or the V6.....and NONE of it fits the 4.2. SO..here is the deal.

We need 2 mufflers, and 2 2.5" pipes ran from the headers all the way back. I am pretty much planning on taking it to the brake shop (HEY MATT!! I FOUND YOU SOME MORE WORK! )
But I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations on mufflers. I was thinking borla or magnaflow, but just wondering if anyone had any first-hand experience/opinions?

the key to sounding good is going to be resonators. Most mufflers are very simple designs so the only concern is build quilty so that it doesn't rattle or brake at some point. Good sounding exhaust systems are all tuned with resonators, so pick up a couple. Because you won't have the capability to engineer the exhaust either mimic the resonators on the stock exhaust or mimic some other simliar exhaust setup.

I beg to differ on the resonators. A ton of it is muffler placement. The closer to the end of the pipe the cleamer the sound. The last car I finished up has 2.5" straight pipe manderal bent and x pipe to magnaflows and turn downs straight off of the mufflers. Jasons gto had 3" just std wrinkle bent with h pipe (different magnaflow muffler). A good x pipe will be a much cleaner sound than a h pipe. Magnaflow is cool, but I like bassoni mufflers a bunch more
