well I have been looking on yellowbullet.com and it seams like if you don't have a 8sec street car, you don't have shit . cars are getting faster and faster every year , it would take lots of CASH to keep up with the real street wars in big city's.
good thing we live in Montana where a 10sec street car is still at the top of the game.

The speed of a car is usually limited by the size of the owner's bank account(s). Probably the way it has always been and always will be. It's hard not to feel inadequate when people post on the net about how "450whp is nothing".
I've long since accepted I don't have the money, nor will I ever, to play with the big dogs. Gonna have to be happy with what I have. You can go broke chasing your tail in this hobby..

You do have to add about a second for the altatude difference, alot of those cars are running near sea level. It's tough to run fast with shity air, but if you run 10.5 N/A here you will usually run 9.5 or quicker down at sea level.

Idk if you would pick up a full second from changing to sea level mayb six tenths. from here to boise I pick up two hundreths. thats about 3,000 adjusted alti difference from average air here to Boise and Boise is about 3,200 adjusted and id say 6,500 is average for here from our weather station!
And you only need two chutes if you go over 200mph i think!? so im sure its a just a "ricer" factor imo.
But ya running that fast is a huge money game. For instance check out the outlaw ten five class people throw crazy amount of money out there! Even a class i race in called Top Sportsman is crazy if you dont run a low seven you are one of the lower qualifers. We went to Vegas to race and i ran a mid seven and qualified at 48 out of 56 lol. People are spendy 90,000 dollars on motor alone not counting another ninety a new car would cost!

Sick cars but they arent street cars. I personally think its cool when you can go to the track run a 8 or 9 second 1/4 mile then go hit the streets with it and have some real fun. Street Cars are the shit

Some cars can be driven on the street. But you'd never really want to make a habit out of it.

Im the same way bud. but everybody has there own thing. i cant bring myself to ripping up a decent shell to make it a full on drag car. but thats kinda how ive always been. its pretty neat to have all the amenities of a DD and still go off and bust off so good 1/4 mile times.

Everyone has a bunch of different definitions of a street car. Mine would be it has to have plates, insurence, be able to run more than 30 miles highway and 2 hours of city driving with out over heating, needing gas, or anyother problems, interior (not full just front sets forward), and DOT tires. What is your guys idea of a street car? Fill in the stuff you think I have missed.

mine would be car car that runs pump, and can sit in everyday traffic and not have a heating problem, other than that and a plate with working lights , that to me is a street car.

I don't have a problem with race gas, as long as the person doesn't mind filling it up with it all the time. Having a car that runs race gas but using the excuse that you only have 91 in it is lame. That and the smell of race gas... yeah, it just makes me happy.
For street car, my thoughts are plated, insured, can be (and is) driven on Friday nights (not just friday but you get the point), has working lights, wipers, etc. Basically, if I see it out fairly often cruisin and hangin, then it is a street car.
I hope that we can get a few street guys into the 9s soon. I can think of a few cars that are close, just gets harder and harder the closer you get to single digits. Now 8s, that takes a whole other level of dedication...

You are a dedicated man, no reason to fret. If it doesn't run 8s at Acton, just take it to an 1/8 mile track and I bet you can get those 8s hehe.
if you dont like the result, change the approach

My car is built for pump , but I will be running mixed because I LOVE the smell!!
I say if your car runs on nitromethane your braking a rule to be called a "street car" .
straight race fuel with like 14.1 I would say not a street car, but who am to say.

What do you guys think about tires? Drag radials only or just DOT legal like the MT Street ETs. This is where a lot of people differ in opinion. I think DOT slicks are good but they suck going down the highway, and the drag radial is great for the street and highway but don't hook as well. Mufflers are a for sure must to keep it street legal. Good catch. Good info on the fuel and still different thoughts. I still think it should be a pump gas only car. If only we could get 110 at the pump.

Well tires should be DOT and if they are DOT then why not. I know that a wrinkle wall isn't fun to drive daily, but we are talking stupid fast cars that need all the traction they can get. Like I said above, my opinion is that if it is legal to drive on the street and actually driven on the street then it is a street car.
I still don't have a problem with race fuel, no more than I'd have a problem with nitrous.

For cars...
Chad (10.40 on old setup I think) Sam's friend with the Mustang (low 10s IIRC and sorry, can't recall his name) Jim (Blue T/A) low 11s, but has better than that I think, might see 10s this year Robert, can't recall how fast yours was, probably ranks up there My Buick might be in there at 11.37, has a bit more, was just starting to get the bugs worked out when it went down Josh's car in on the list just not sure how much more street time it will see
I'm sure there are some others that I can't recall and I know there are a few new setups for this year that might get us some new 10s cars. As far as I know, we don't have a verified 9 sec street car in town, maybe this year?

Top 5 is just hard to say, guess we could list them based on known ET. We could start a fastest street post in the Drag forum. Not sure how else to really list them. If someone wants to start that post, do it, else I'll start it if I get a bit of time this morning.
