Yeah I posted trying to find a local tuner in Billings and couldn't find one either. At least not anyone who had used KPro and ITBs before and was interested in tackling it.

Mine are Jenvey ITBs, but after the hassle of install I wished I had sprung for the Toda's. I am waiting on a vacuum block that will incorporate the IACV and a header that fits properly, then I will need to get it tuned again. It is great at WOT, but at light throttle inputs and cold start it is painful. To be honest, it has really ruined the car for me temporarily. I couldn't take it to Lewistown for the last event and will be pissed if I can't get it running properly before the next event.

Kinsler prob makes one of the best sets of ITBs out there right now!!

Yeah mine needs tuning desperately. My car runs poorly at light throttle inputs, specifically trying to hold a steady RPM above 6000 or trying to use small throttle inputs at high rpm. It will actually activate fuel cut in this instance. The tuner that I paid a lot of money to can 't be bothered helping me, even though this is how it ran straight off the dyno. As I said, it does pull smoothly at WOT, but it only put out 184whp and to be honest it does not feel any faster than it did before. I am pretty sure it is running far too rich for a normally aspirated car, and will know when I put in the wideband next week.

What do you think of tuning the car yourself? You're getting a wideband,,,, can you afford a EGT set too? Since it's ITB's You really need to get a separate EGT sensor on each exhaust runner. That way you don't melt down just one cylinder with ITB's. Between EGT, A/F and a Gmeter you should be able to get it tuned very well yourself. Then from that point you can go back to a dyno. But ya.... my experience with "professional tuners" is they are always very busy..... never have time for you.... and really don't spend the time on it to get it any better then you can yourself with A/F, EGT, and Gmeter anyways. Difference is they can get it to that point a lot faster then we can shade tree tuning. But all I can say is..... shade tree tuning so far has worked well for everything I've dealt with. Ask Max how tuning the S/C hot rod truck went when you see him.

There lies the problems from mase tuning your car. If he password protected the tune there is no way for someone else to pull his tune off and adjust where it just needs a little tweeking. So essentially another tuner would have to start all over if that is the case. Unless you can get him to send you the file for another tuner to adjust.

And the problem that you are talking about how do you know it is fuel cut? It could possible be lean protection that mase had set up when he tuned your car.

First and foremost, MASE has been a class-A douchebag through this whole thing. I haven't posted my review yet, in hopes that he will actually help me, but two full months have gone by now and my car is sitting there not being driven during the few MT months when I can actually drive it. He sends an email periodically claiming he wants to help me, but then doesn't review datalogs or make any changes or anything at all.

EGJDM- I am told that with Hondata/Kpro the tuner cannot "lock" the tune as they can with an AEM or accessport. I am pretty sure it can be adjusted by anyone easily. I can download the map from the ECU and look at his values, I just don't know what any of it really means!

I know the problem is not lean cut, because I had asked in advance that Mase use a "PRB" map on my ECU (remember AP1 S2000's running Kpro actually use a RSX ECU). Despite this request, he deleted my PRB basemap and used a PRA map because he said that the RSX wideband setup I installed was "useless junk." Others have proven that it reads fine down to 11:1, which should have been perfect for my NA car that would never see lower A/F ratios. SO, what i am saying is, he could not program lean cut because the only way you can use it on the S2000 with Kpro is to have the OEM RSX wideband installed and to use a PRB map. Since there is no way to easily switch from a PRA to a PRB map, this is another way the tuner completely screwed me over. I am now installing an AEM wideband that I had sitting around, because currently Mase has the car running such that it does not even read the factory oxygen sensor!!! (it shows 14.7 at all times, never moves in Kpro). I know it is running rich, but I really won't know accurately until I get this shit working.

Also, Mase had trouble on the dyno tuning this car. He said to me "the car is activating fuel cut at the vacuum transition point". He then tuned this problem out of the car all the way up to around 5000 rpm, but it is still there at higher RPM. I call it fuel cut because I am quite certain that is what it is by feel. I can demonstrate the problem at will very easily. Cruise steadily at 6000+ rpm, lightly push the throttle, and the car cuts out and takes a coupe of seconds to come back. Floor it and the car pulls just fine.

You can security enable in kpro but if you are able to download map it isn't protected then, so thats a good thing.

I would imagine a person could copy all the tables over and create a PRB map using same values he has on your current map. It is possible that your issue is a tps issue. When you look at the file and you go to map tab does he have map sensor selected or is modified tps selected?

The tune was done by "TPS Modified Alpha-N" in KPro. I have asked around on the forum, and a lot of ITB users claim they were tuned by this same method. The car runs the stock map sensor, but does NOT currently have the IACV plumbed in. I will have a vacuum block next week that will hold everything, and I am told having the idle valve makes a huge difference it how it starts up and runs at idle (currently idles fine once warm, but cold start is torture with having to blip or hold the throttle for the first couple of minutes).

The tune was done on the Jenvey TPS that came with the ITBs. About a week after my tune, Mase did actually help me out by having me physically adjust the TPS to get it as close to zero as possible. This helped the tune in that it took away the tip-in-idle-dip I was having, and the terrible on-off throttle response, but it did not fix the other issues described above.

I have since purchased an adapter that allows one to use the OEM TPS. I checked with Mase before installing it and he told me it wouldn't change anything. The car ran exactly as it had previously once we adjusted the new TPS near zero (physically) and calibrated it in KPro. HOWEVER, it now gets a CEL when the car hits VTEC for "TPS voltage high". I have not driven it since because I am afraid I will break something. The TPS reading at idle is 4-5% and 113% at WOT, so I assume the tune will need to be adjusted for the new TPS, contrary to what I was told. Either way, it does NOT fix the issues with the tuning. I have never been treated so poorly by ANY supposed professional, as I have been by Mase. That guy is a complete joke, as far as I am concerned. As I said, I will be posting my review everywhere for all to see, and they can take the chance on them if they choose. I wish I had been better informed!

Yes, apparently the values in the PRA map can be copied over to a PRB map, BUT I was told that the columns are not the same and that you better know what you are doing before you try to do this! I am now at a point where I just want my car back, and would prefer to have someone tune it and get it running already, so I can beat on it at the track all day and not worry about it.

i did want to say that im using aplha n to tune my car, you can use map for itbs, but alpha n is supposed to be optimal. i have disabled my iacv and its not connected, and i am not experiecned the issue you are desribing with cold start, i fire it up and it idles at about 600 till its warmed but ive never had to hold the throttle or anything.

and ya my tps at idle is at 4% as well, but it hasnt affected anything negatively.

i would get a new tuner asap, maybe contact the guy im using, i do datalogs and send them and he sends me a new map same day, hes good with contacting me and troubleshooting, and is there at all times of the night. i bother the dude alot and he hasnt been rude, and the maps are actually working very well, and the final tune once i get to missoula will be way amazing i cant wait.

no car:(yes it was my car on 24th:( me and my girlfriend were driving around then all of sudden a loud bang sound i pulled into the kia opened the hood and it was in flames, the entire car is destroyed everything in the engine bay is melted completely, the fire dept proceeded to spary the interior of the car with water, so ill saveage what i can, im just glad we are ok,
