VERY recognizable... not sure how this could happen in the middle of the night on a very busy street. Some people Mad

Im sure some of you have seen it on grand... it's been parked there for a fucking week or 2 and no one has touched it... they must have planned it or some shit.

Bikes are easy as fuck to steal, whether they have locking steering or not. Only takes a couple guys with a pickup, or better yet a cherry picker and a strap. That is one of several reasons why insurance is so high for some bikes. And recovery is rare since they're so easy to hide and part out.

My KTM doesn't even have keys, let alone a locking neck. Anyone could just fire it up and go. Luckily, insurance is dirt cheap for it, probably because its an unusual dirt bike. Odd, though, cause its worth like $5k.

What year ninja? Pics would really help...

Sucks man, I have had a few buddies get bikes lifted over the years, worth getting a wheel lock. Put a craigslist wanted ad out for parts for a ninja 500 needed, worth a shot?

forget the wheel lock. i'd just make sure it never stays out over night or i wouldn't leave a bike unattended outside for more than a hour. to easy to lift. my bike will never stay out over night.

I am with Shawn. I don't even like leaving our bikes parked outside of restaurants for this very reason. Unless you anchor it down, i.e., a very heavy duty chain linked to a solid object that can't be moved, you are basically out of luck. Even then, someone could come by with a cutting torch and take it. At least it would require some tools that the thieving bastards may not bring, and/or create some commotion that might get noticed.

Sorry to hear it. I will keep my eyes peeled. Ninja 500 parts are incredibly easy to unload, unfortunately. Watch the local Craigslist sections for MT and surrounding states, or ebay for parts listed in MT. There is no limit to how bold and stupid thieves can be.

This is the owner of the stolen bike here. Been parking it the same as I always have for the past 3 years without problems. The bike is honestly worthless, it was a wrecked bike that I just fixed up enough to make streetable. Absolutely ZERO plastics on it, no gauges, dented tank, broken levers, bald tires. I cut all mounting brackets off of the tail section of the bike and welded in a piece of steel for a cheesy chinese LED tail light. It has irreversible modifications, and could never be reverted to stock. Seriously what I don't understand is that there aren't even any parts on it to sell, other than the cheepo V&H exhaust, on top of that a Ninja 500 is not a desirable bike at all. It sucks to know someone slipped away with it just like that, however I can't help but laugh at them. They took the time to steal an extremely high mileage, salvaged, Ninja 500 with an estimated $450 in parts. Who ever took it obviously has NO knowledge of motorcycles what-so-ever, I feel sorry for them. Only a semi-retarded 16 year old would think that a chopped up ex500 was cool. So at the same time, a thank you goes out to its thief. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to finally upgrade out of that little kids/beginner bike and get something decent. You wasted your time, you got that piece of shit off my hands, and you made yourself look like a total fool for stealing something worth less than the gas you used to pick it up haha. fucking retards in this town.

Cheers to that. Reminds me of the time someone broke into my old Firebird and stole a crappy Pioneer deck that wouldn't read discs and half the buttons didn't work. These people are unbelievably stupid. Makes one embarassed to be of the same species. On the bright side, since this is obviously the work of a dumbfuck, probably some kid who saw it parked there all the time and thought it'd be fun to lift, its likely that its still in town, and possible that we'll see it rollin around or sittin in someone's yard.

Over the past few years, there have been an increasing number of stories where someone's ride got jacked, local forums started spreading the word like wildfire, and the dipshit was caught in a matter of days if not hours. The best part, however, is that not only do these tards then have to answer to the law, but to dozens of pissed off local car enthusiasts who can make their livees a living hell. Vigilante justice ftw!

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned anything about it, but Aviglakis' CRX was stolen this past week too. It didn't run, so it had to be trailered apparently. I don't know anymore details than that as I heard it from another friend, but if anyone sees the tan crx somewhere or in someone's yard please let him or one of us know.

Jesus. That's fucked up. Maybe we need to create a STOLEN thread or forum. Does he have any pics?

That sucks, but leaving small expensive shit in a vehicle, especially fucking gold, is kinda derp. $1700 for a coin, tho? Are my Sacajaweyas worth more than a buck now? That would be hilarious.

I'm sure he'll chime in. He's a member here. There are some parts on the car that only a few people know about so if they surface around town we'll know where they came from. I promised I'd smash teeth in if I find anything. My girlfriend tells me I'm too paranoid, then shit like that happens. That makes me think I am not prepared enough!

And as Icing on the cake, we think someone was trying to break into our shop about a week and a half ago. There are prybar marks above and below the striker/bolt blocking plate and the edge of the door is collapsed in. They didn't get in, but now it is under video surveillance, security has been reinforced and we are actually talking about moving to a different shop because of it.

I feel like I can only trust a handful of people anymore. I know a lot of people say we stay to ourselves and dont come out much, but when shit like this goes on the last thing I want to do is advertise what I have or where its being stored. Fortunately, most everything of mine that is of value has been moved to yet another area to store it and the shop is just for working on a project here and there.

I grew up in Seattle area and waking up with my car in the driveway every morning was a relief for me. I know Billings isn't on the same level, but paranoia is why I got out of the car scene for a few years. I couldn't sleep at night over fears my car was going to get stolen, and when it did get broken into that was the last straw and I dumped my DA for less than half of what I should have sold it for. I don't think I'd ever do that with my car now, but it is under lock, key and a watchful eye at every hour of the day anymore.
