Yellowstone SCCA Schedule

Should be fun... it seems like the past few seasons have gotten more and more competetive. I really hope to see a good dedicated crowd this year. In my opinion it is the best thing we have around to truly better your driving skills.

Nels should be pretty insane this year with the new Hachi and slcks... hopefully he will let me take rides. My car might be loud and make smoke, but I doubt I will have the cash flow to throw suspension on it this year, so it will probably be ghetto slammed.

I'm hoping bobcat motorsports can make it out with our car.

Be sure to be at Chris Brewer's house at 5:00 p.m on Saturday, April 17, 2010, for the Region's kickoff BBQ. Bring along a dish to share. Bring along a friend! The Region will provide the main course and possibly some liquid refreshments! See ya there!


Might be a good event for people to meet up and get familiar with some more of the SCCA guys.

The schedule is posted for this year. Some dates are still TBA, but most of them are down. We are still working on setting up some of the sites, but do have backup sites if some that are in the works fall through. First even is May 1st and 2nd at GM Petroleum. Skyview is May 30th and is usually a pretty fast course. Hopefully there will be some good turnouts.

Think there is any chance that they will get any drag strip events setup this year? I know with the ownership issues this year it might make it more difficult. That is my favortie event, I hope to see it return! It looks like Gillis is trying to have a lot of events out there for drag racing, so he might be interested in looking for other opportunities like SCCA events.

We are currently trying to get together with the new owner to set up an event out there. It has been a fight to keep the club wanting to do it since we never break even out there, so if it does happen we really need people to show up or it might not happen next year.

Good feedback! keep us posted, I will do what I can to spread the word and get support for the event. I just enjoy the open space and the speeds that can be achieved out there. Gives us all opportunities to learn how to drive our cars at different speeds as compared to the smaller more compact courses we see around town.

Just a reminder that, if its not snowing, the autocross season in Billings kicks off this weekend. I can't make the Saturday night event, but I will be there Sunday weather permitting to try out this cobbed together cabby. With a little luck it might run most of the day.

Times:
Course set-up at 4:00 p.m. on Sat. and 7:30 a.m. on Sunday
Registration and tech inspection from 4:30 p.m. on Sat and 7:30 a.m. on Sun
Drivers' meeting at 5:45 on Sat. and 8:45 a.m. on Sun.
First car out at 6:00 p.m. on Sat. and 9:00 a.m. on Sun.

That is a good question Jason, I have never seen a 2 day event before.

Damn my 7 day a week work schedule otherwise I would totally come watch at least...

Never mind the one this weekend was just cancelled because of the weather.

If anyone still needs more driving there is a SCCA event at Skyview tomorrow.

I may come up to Skyview for a few minutes to chat. Car is still cutting out on right hand turns, so I am kind of screwed until I get that fixed.

just got back from the races. pretty sweet! Christian was three wheeling his lancer around a corner. Some sweet cars and some guy in a red shelby babied it through the whole thing and didn't even know where he was going! Fun day though! wish i coulda gone out there

Sometimes the courses are pretty hard to follow. I know that when I SCCA I sometimes miss gates just because the courses are so short it is hard to see them.

The course this weekend was really hard to follow. Almost everyone missed a gate or got lost. It was extremely tight and a really hard course for the mustang guys, they were all kinda flustered. At least he was out there racing and having fun.

When the hell did Staebler buy a Mini?

He didn't he just drove Dave's. I don't think he will ever autocross anything he own's, he just drives the cars that are already prepped.

I was just wondering, because I saw him a few weeks ago and he said he has a new toy that will give my car a good run. I was thinking it was the Cooper.

He bought his brother's V8 S10. It sounds like it should run pretty good.
