along with my integra pursuit... my buddy has a 1990 eagle talon he wants gone. its got a used jap motor(one of the low mileage ones) with the bigger injectors, turbo, and cams. it has a 16g turbo on it, a front mount yet to be installed, and a spun timing belt! sounds great till that last part... his friend worked on the car and said the only issue with it would be the replacing the head. which he spun a rod bearing in the stock motor but the head is just fine and freashly tuned. he wants the car and misc extras gone for 1500 bucks and i have the motivation/abilities to switch the heads but not the knowhow with this perticular car.. so basiclly would it be a safe venture? what advise can i get? hints? tips? help??? anything would be nice

basically, with a bad motor you are just getting a shell. $1500? The body better be in BETTER than perfect condition.
I would say no. 20 years old, needs motor work bad, I wouldn't pay over $800 for it.
If you really are set on it, work isn't that hard on these cars.
DSMtuners.com will be a huge help for you.
But like I said, that is a lot of money for a car that needs a lot of work.
And quick question, did he have any type of engine management with it? If not, then there is probably more damage done than you think.

switching the head is pretty simple. just takes a few hours cause of all the other stuff you have to take off. the most important part is to make sure you have the timing tabs lined up on the cam gears. other than the its pretty straight forward. the only things you will need to buy is gaskets.( you need a head gasket, intake manifold gasket, a exhaust manifold gasket and a timing belt).

Any engine management. I don't care how forged his pistons and rods are, if he just threw on a bigger turbo, bigger injectors and turned up the boost it wasn't done right.
In all honesty I would stay away from that car unless you want a headache and a lawn ornament.
You say it has a "spun timing belt"...I'm not sure what that means but if it means spun bearing, then it will be more than a head job. You will need to pull the head off then pull the block apart and put all new bearings on. You will also need new piston rings. At this point, if the car still has the stock water pump on there you might as well change that out now too.
While in there you could eliminate the balance shaft with a BSE kit, and then find out what the cams are.
In just parts alone (as long as there isn't any rod/piston damage) you are looking at another ~$400(if you don't do the water pump).
Like I said, you can find something cheaper.

well when the motor got tuned the guy forgot to tighten the timing belt tensioner so the timing belt jumped some teeth and just killed the car. when the valve cover was pulled off the valves and liters were all just laying on the head. and the new motor came stock with the bigger injectors, a 14g turbo, and all. but ya i was afraid it would be more work then its worth. but he has the stock motor that he spun a bearing in or something. he just said there was a really loud clunking sound. thats when he bought the motor from japan. 2 grand later he has the motor with the bigger injectors etc.. then he put the 16g on and had it tuned and jumped the timing belt. so thats pretty much the whole story i got from him. kindof a mess and sounds like a bigger mess then i originally thought...

If the timing belt jumped the pistons probably kissed the valves, so you are at least looking at bent valves if not more. Like I said, $1500 is already pretty high for a 20 year old car that doesn't run, then you are looking at either a new motor(which can be had for a couple hundred) or putting a couple hundred into the one you have now.
