| Perhaps we should all just chip in on a tire machine. And an alignment machine. Who here wouldn't love to have free access to an alignment machine? | |

| You've seen an alignment rack with heads and a control unit for less than $2k?
must have been the first one created and uses string. lol
Really..... look up what an alignment rack costs.
Tire machine under $2k .... ya I can see that.... but you need to balance the tires too. so that means you need a tires mcahine.... and a balancer. And I don't know about you..... but I would want something decent that I could EASILY find parts for WHEN it breaks.
I'm looking at the Napa quarterly sales flyer right now.
Coats Tire machine $5200-7800
balancer $2800-15,000
alighnment rack (as in a WHOLE setup) not just the rack but the system $40,000-80,000

| I was thinking of a tire machine. It's a shame nobody here works at a tire shop. | |

| I find it hard t o believe that nobody in MAEC works in a tire store, as there are like a dozen stores around town. Maybe we could talk one of the cool places like Lisac's into giving MAEC members a discount. | |

| There is someone here that works at a tire shop, but I don't want to divulge who for fear he gets swamped with requests. He'll chime in if he decides to. | |

| I can do tires. 30$ to mount and balance, and you need to take off the tires from you car and bring them to me.
sorry, but I can no longer have " side work" cars at my shop.

| We need someone taking classes at the College of Technology, cause anyone there can use the tire mounter, balancer, and alignment rack. I took a suspensions class there years ago, and had a blast fucking around with my caster and camber. | |

| It's not quite that open. Students in the automotive program can use the machines if they work it out with an instructor or are doing work for one of the classes. We do not need to start the rumor that it is open for all to use. At the moment the balancer is not functional due to student abuse.
As far as the alignment rack, it is in use for classes most of the semester. Right now there are more students left with classwork to finish than there are days left in the semester.
Next semester there is a class in which students do work for customers. The school only charges $20 to open a work order and parts. If someone calls out to set it up, there is the possiblity of a relatively cheap alignment.
