| Looks like this will be happening soon. I think the noise I'm getting is from a bad idler pulley. I know it's coming from the driver's side and definitely right on the other side of the timing belt cover. While I'm in there, I'll be doing a new timing belt and tensioner as well. Any info on this would be great! Thanks guys. | |

| So I thought the belt was making a bunch of noise. The other day I was listening to the chatter it's making and when I put my hand on it, the noise seemed to stop. I know there is a bolt missing in my timing belt cover. Since I already have the parts on order, I will probably go ahead and do this anyways. I'll let ya know what comes out. | |

| HOLY SHIT! Just got this done! IF YOU DO THIS MAKE SURE TO GET AN HONEST TO GOD SUBARU TIMING BELT!!!!!!!! I went the cheap route w/ the kit that I posted up. The fucking timing marks on the belt were off and it took some (believe it or not) trial and error! After we figured out how many teeth the marks were off and we got it all put back together, my car runs like it is brand new. Subaru OEM parts > cheap ass kits off ebay. Chalk one up to learning a life lesson here. Michael Card and Brandon Rowlett are the two coolest kids I know. | |

| Would have been pretty straight forward minus the marks. Never done a DOHC before, but I have now and they are not as bad as I initially thought. | |

| If you have done this a few times you'll quickly realize that no one uses the marks anyways. If you understand whats going on in the engine you should be able to set it to TDC, throw the belt on and rotate it around a few times. Check it out and be done. Most fancy aftermarket belts won't even have marks and if they do I wouldn't trust them. | |

| Yeah it was a good time. I love late garage nights at the Card residence. All in all it was a long night but I am glad we got squared away and now Antwon's car purrs like a kitten. | |

| I will never install another timing belt without counting the teeth again. | |

| Haha! You know, I think if we would have marked the old belt before it came off, we would have been Super Green. | |

| Thats what I always do now. After doing so many timing belts on a lot of different vehicles. That seems to work the best. The marks on the belts are sometimes wrong or not there. But if you line up the old belt and mark it with a paint pen before you remove it. You can check it against the new one. | |
