| It's not all good attention, however...seems like things are getting pretty watered down with a bunch of for sale posts and scenesters that just wanna be cool and show off, which draws negative attention to the meets (not everyone, but one is too many). That's why we got kicked out of the garage last nite...Turns out when you tear down 3rd Ave N, boosting through two or three gears and going easily 3 times the speed limit in a pedestrian area with limited visibility only to turn around at division and do the same on 2nd Ave then return to the garage (Blue DSM; was that you Billy?) it draws attention in a negative way (I know, surprising right?)
Todd, I noticed that you and Michaela (sp?) both rolled out shortly after we all arrived at Sports Authority; I didn't get a chance to really chat w/ you much so maybe y'all had plans to be somewhere but my assumption is that you found it lame and left, which is exactly what we did less than 5 mins later. There were some cool cars for sure, and I did get an opportunity to meet and chat with the guy in the green early 90s Honda wagon, who seems like a pretty cool cat, but other than that this meet felt like a waste of time.
Since I started my landscape const. business I subscribed to the FB page so that I can get notified of the meets since I've been extremely busy and don't get the opportunity to just casually check here to keep up, however, last nights meet was kinda lame. I had a kid I've never met walk over to me and first question from him wasn't car related at all, instead, "Where did you get the 'eM-Ay-Ee-Cee' stickers that are in the windows, and it kinda made me wanna vomit... This hobby isn't about F*kin stickers...
I'm hoping to find more time to be more involved this year and help organize at least one or two meets/cruises, etc that don't get such negative attention from the Police. I noticed a few people bitching about the cops, how we weren't hurting anything, etc., which is basically true, but in the time I've been involved with the forum (bout 2.5-3 years) none of the other meets I've been to have been busted up by police. When we meet at ColdStone or CityBrew or wherever else that we can be paying customers, we don't get kicked out for trespassing...It seems that many people have forgotten that as a big group we get attention whether we ask for it or not, so its all the more important to make sure that it isn't negative because that reflects poorly on the entire car culture here in Yellowstone County.

| Stuart, I sold the car a while ago, no longer mine, was NOT me. The kid that bought it is an idiot. | |

| I am not sure why members think having cops around is a bad thing. As long as we have had the club sanctioned meets, as Stuart said, we have had no altercations with the police whatsoever. If we are at either Cold Stone or City Brew I dont feel like there will be any police interference as most of us are just there to talk, not show boat.
These businesses have been very gracious allowing us to have our small and large meets in their parking lots. Hopefully they will keep allowing us to do so in 2013.

Exactly. This was not an actual MAEC meet, just like that last Red Lodge cruise was not either (although that went pretty good). When we set up a meet it is usually at a place of business where we are spending money, so just like a buss stopping in, they don't mind us hanging out and shooting the breeze. I think this last little meet was just too big to have in a parking garage and apparently attracted too much attention. It would be great if we could get permission and do a huge photoshoot in one, but just showing up with 20 modified imports isn't such a great idea. And once we got to Sports Authority it just felt like a high school convention and we hardly knew anyone so we left. We were reallly out to show off Michaelas fresh wheels.
