| i would get a cheap "gas shield" 110 mig if it was me. my first welder was a arc . i never use my arc welder anymore. go with mig then step up to the 220 in a year or two. and save your cash in the meantime because a good mig welder will cost you. i have 3000 in my air cooled tig. | |

| + Arc is not user friendly, if my arc welder was not maxed out on power it was a pain in the ars to get a puddle going, and maxed out will cut a hole in thin metal. i thing arc is only good for pipe - like in the oil filed or on the farm welding on tractors. | |

| Don't waste your time on that welder. A mig welder is the way to go...with welders, you get what you pay for. If you want quality you will be paying at least 500 for a good mig welder. just curious, what are you planning on welding, for ex. thickness of material, what position, stuff like that. Just so you know I'm a certified welder.(college, and what I do for a career) | |

| Alright. I'll bag that idea. I am just looking for something to learn on right now, but eventually I would like to be able to fab up parts, intercooler piping, mounts, stuff like that | |

| id stay with a mig for sure. im not welder. but i have used mig quite a few times. i tryed a arc and they are a bit tricky. plus they arent good for any thin metals. a mig it graet for what you want to do. | |

| your messin up my beer drinkin with all this crazy talk... Arc welders are gaga do not by one unless for the sole purpose of learning how to weld!!!!! They cannot do any thing light enought that would be usefull and you would spent a tone of time fixing HUGE holes you burnt in your car. BUT on the other hand if you spent the money on a tig rig and a bottle of Ar you would have a relitivly cheap heliarc setup that you could use on all the C steel and SS you wanted, if it is an old school ACDC machine then you could use it for Al also. SO DONT BUY ONE unless you know how to setup a welder the right way. PS this is f20bmt drunkposting on my buddy that is ballin on a budget woot! | |
