ive heard from people that royal purple never lasts and you havea to constantly do oil changes but does it run the same as normal oil cause this summer im working full time so cost shouldnt be a problem but im looking at longevity. and nice todd purple royal FTW.

Our new Ford at work goes 15k between oil changes per the dealer recommendations. I think my car oil gets changed once, maybe 2 times a yeardepending on how hard it's driven.

| costco has a sale on Mobil 1, beginning 13 may. $9 off normal price per box.
Subaru drivers: you don't need to change the oil so often (5K to 6K is okay), as long as you change the filter every 3K or so.

| If it's synthetic, any synthetic, at 3K it is not old oil. It's not old oil at even 7K. You don't have to drain the oil. Just replace the filter, and then top up to replace what was in the filter. Saves you $25 to about $45, depending on what oil you are using. That's roughly the cost of a tank of gas in my car. | |

| mobil 1 in the vette 5w-30. walmart supertech full synthetic in my truck and camry 5w-30. Also a big fan of valvoline...have personally seen a chevy 350 ran with conventional 10w-40 valvoline with over 250,000 on it and it finally blew a head gasket...piston tops were clean and could still see swirl marks on the cylinders!!! | |

| I'll stick to changing my oil every 3k. It's not like it's that expensive, and if I'm changing out the filter I might as well change the oil while I'm there. | |

| I've always stuck to the rule of every 3k miles no matter what change the oil and filter even if the oil still looks clean and you use a full synthetic there still are contaminants in it that collect over time and it's just best to change it out. I always find a good deal on Valvoline Full Synthetic either at my work or at walmart. | |

| I run Valvoline VR1 20w-50. Only run 20w-50 because I have very loose clearances so I can rev to 9K. Its a race oil so its no the best for DD's. I'm going to go back to Mobil 1 next oil change probably. But after years of Testing oils I'd run Mobil 1 or Torco oils. All oils start off as the same base oils and its the additives that make a difference. When I met with the Torco guys and Bizi at SEMA they showed me a lot of confidential information about what the additives are they use as well as their competitors. Mobil 1 is the only other brand that uses a few special ingredients. I can't remember the names to tell you and I am not supposed to talk about it but I can tell you that Mobil 1 performs great and holds up to heat very good. Not to mention its fairly cheap and almost every store has it so why not run that. | |
