| I agree with you, I wont allow this to cast a shadow over my trade and I don't think it is. I'm sure Tim will figure out a way to get Billy some sort of recompense for the boost controller itself. I for one would stand behind the parts I am retailing. Especially with a failure out of the box. We all know the high performance world is a frightening place to do business because it is flooded with pointed fingers and people playing the blame game. It's easy to get put up on the chopping block. I think in this situation it would be good for people to know that Tim is going to be reasonable. Of course, this is assuming he wants to be in the business. If he is doing it a little on the side, or as a favor to people, and isn't invested in the quality of his parts, then it is no big loss to just stop offering. | |

| Well its for those 2 to work out and if Tim wants to comment on his commitment on his business Ill let him not for me to say...But I have a pretty good idea of his answer...
Are you planning on opening a full time place? I ask cuz of ur comment about "casting a shadow over your trade" and I am just noisy!!!! lol

| WeI thought "Aviglakis" said he thought it was rings. And from way car is running from what I heard I would have to agree with his thoughts..But maybe it is turbo (doubtful)..I would do a compression test if I was you..
Also if it is the rings I dont think you are gonna get lucky enough to just be able to do the rings but maybe...But most likely its gonna need a whole bottom end rebuild..Just trying to prepare you and your wallet for it..Cuz I was thinking I was gonna get to just rering my bottom end and nope new pistons are a must and mine only have less than 100 miles on them....GL
Speaking of that anyone on here with a D series interested in a set of 9.1 Arias pistons 75.5

I'm shooting for a 500+ whp Street driven car We'll see though. Gotta have a friend get hold of the shop tomorrow to order some parts! I'm so happy I went to Reno and spent about $500 less than I figured I would, and also came out ahead gambling. The garage is cleared and ready to be put to use, now its a matter of when I get some more time off work to try to get my block out there and drop it off...

Talking about pistons..... I have a spare set of stock D16Z6 rods and pistons used. Rods are good.... pistons aren't worth anything. They were replaced with Eagle rods and overbore pistons. I have no use for them. But if someone were wanting to rebuild their D-series and found a bent rod or something maybe these rods would come in handy IDK.... but they're free for anyone that wants them. just let me know.

| Sorry man.... nope.
That last D series I built is sitting in a black and blue 94 hatch. those are the only worth while reusable parts left over from that project.
I do have a B16 short block I could SELL. cheap
And I have a bastard B18 kinda short block that I think could be put back together if a guy really wanted to. But you'd probably want to re-machine everything on it and check line bore. It would need aftermarket rods and pistons too with a balance. But a build-able core.
I started out with the D-series and ZC's.... but have kinda gone over to the B-series.
I do have rear disc conversion and front oversize caliper/conversion mount sitting in my shed too for something like an ED/EF big brake conversion. Made to work with 11" front rotors(VW)..... compare that to 99/00 Si rotors at 10.8"
Also have some new in package Mugen front control arm bushings for a ED/EF
Heck maybe I should start a for sell post? lol anyone looking for parts like this?

| this is Stunna BEN's words from Greasy Blocks.
I just thought they were a great choice of words That i thought holds true for the drag racing scene and scca scene so I decided to share with you guys.....
"No matter the pit, no matter if there is grudge or not, no matter if its rain or shine, it all comes down to getting the cars on the line. People can talk, and everyone loves a battle, but if we have no cars on the line and there is no racing taking place, we have nothing. Keep supporting your local racers, race shops, and tracks. If we want to see anything change within the drag racing scene and actually get the sport back to where it once was, we need to change it ourselves. Waiting on the companies to change it will just leave us pissing in the wind. We need to take the 1st effort, and it needs to be under our control. My .02"

| Ya. We can all speculate years on end and all be wrong. You have to take the engine apart and look at it before you ever REALLY know what is going on. But a compression test along with a cylinder leak down test would really help finding out with out tearing it apart. Or if you can find someone with a bore scope. My shop has the snap-on one but I think it sucks so bad it's not even worth using. I'm sure you can talk you're Dad into letting you tear it apart in the corner of his shop where Dave used to work with the frame machine. | |

| As Matt said you have no idea until you break it down, some engines with lots of abuse will still have the cross hatch on them, while another with no abuse may have gauged cylinder walls, it all depends on how it was built, tuned, broke in and used. From the sounds of it though with no tune and lots of racing some parts may need to be replaced. You won't know until you look, could just need a quick hone and new rings and be ready for years more of abuse.
My advice is don't buy parts or plan a full rebuild until you know whats up, no reason to fix something that ain't broke!

| I only say rebuild cuz I know how it was built "broken in" treated.. Think a fresh hone pistons etc would do this motor wanders for future fun.. But I do agree it does need to be torn down 1st to see what all is wrong...
