| Ladies and Gentlemen, 2010 is upon us, and what does that mean? That means it's time for BTR2010! We hope those of you who had the opportunity to come last year will be able to attend once again. This year, most advertising for the event will be local, via B.S.S., MAEC, and word of mouth. Please feel free to invite fellow enthusiasts, and if they'd like to drive, have them contact me via either of the forums. Information concerning the meet location is as follows: Date: June 19th Initial meet and driver meeting: 0900AM Departure time: 1000AM sharp. Meeting place: AllTel Retail @ 851 Shilo Crossing Blvd (thanks Brandon) Maps and checkpoint information will be provided on the day of the Run. Check back often as we will try to update route and meeting information well in advance of the event! Please contact Steve (ScoobyBlack) (via PM) with any additional questions you may have, and please RSVP if you will be able to join us. Thank you once again, we look forward to seeing you! -Steve, BTR 2010 Staff scoobyblack04@gmail.com | |

Nope, no need to sign up; I do appreciate the heads up though; it helps me figure out how many decals to get printed up, swag, etc. Thanks! - ZipDriveX wrote:

I'm with you Todd! This is BTR's 4th year running; the event isn't about drama; it's about driving, and it'll stay BTR. - turbotudor wrote:

No need to destroy the corners; even if you take it easy it's a gorgeous drive. We've been trying to place more emphasis on the cruise aspect, and less on the 'cannonball' aspect

| I went with the Suby guys last year and it was not at all unsafe. There was no racing around the corners or anything stupid. I, for one, will not be speeding up the road. It's such a beautiful drive and there are so many photo oppertunities I would just like a cruise up and back I'm sure most others will agree. | |

either way i hope to attend but, work always comes first. specially with being the new guy. Yeah, my hope is that the 'debate' will die; regardless of the name, we're all going the same direction. We may as well combine it: especially since MAEC makes it so much easier to collaborate. - Quote :

Yeah, I'm surprised as well... last year was pretty chill, and I definitely felt a lot more comfortable with it. My hope is that this year will be much like that one... but with a larger turnout and greater diversity in cars.

| Well it's from Billings to Red Lodge. Red Lodge, over the beartooth highway, then we usually stop in Cooke City. From there we go over the Chief Joseph highway. I'm not sure if that's the plan for this year but that's what we have done in past years. | |

AMEN. i keep hearing stuff about 2 different groups going because of this debate (what ever it is) and i dont mean to offend anyone but i cant think of anything more lame. we all love cars and we all love driving them why the hell cant we all enjoy one of the best drives this state has to offer as one giant group of car enthusiasts?

| its sorta like this, the beartooth run was "supposedly" originated by a tech member, and the name seemed to have been stolen, for lack of a lighter word. so we decided to just ignore the fact and change it to our own deal, and now its in memory of a guy who most of you dont even know, with exception to a lucky few. | |

Compare it to someone bringing in a car they had just bought from out of town. Imagine that person going around telling everyone their blood, sweat and tears went into the build. Original, isn't it?! The first run was organized and designed by a close knit group of friends who would no doubtedly take bullets for each other. That group of friends thought it would be a good idea to invite enthusiasts from all across the car spectrum. They spent hours upon hours on forums they didn't normally frequent trying to get the name out, just to get people to come enjoy cars, driving, and our great state of Montana. What happened? People decided it was a race, and to drive maniacly, irresponsibly, and stupidly. If you weren't on the original run, you may be asking "How bad was it" - Well, more than a handful of people (The ones that were driving responsibly) had the pleasure of dealing with law enforcement for well over an hour, while the people who caused them to be called sped away idiotically. So, the next year, the plan was to go low key, and only invite people to go with that were going to be responsible drivers, put a good name out for the group so we would be WELCOMED into these small towns and areas. What happened? Invites were in the works, and someone decided to basically take the idea, and without the knowledge of the original group of friends start broadcasting the second year of it under his circumstances all over the internet and more or less turn it into a one make event, while using the original name. Now, the original group of friends has a much more meaningful name (due to very unfortunate circumstances) that can never be replaced. The "Beartooth Run" name isn't copyrighted, trademarked, or anything of the sort by the original group. It was just something they wanted to keep amongst their circle of friends for years to come - and due to the first years occurances, keep to select people outside of that original group. That is all really - basically the originality of not only the idea, the name, but the whole concept of it comes down to being passed off as someone elses as far as the group is concerned. As a side note, planning the date of the meet before knowing the track schedule is rather futile, because of the many people who drag race - just a word of advise to the organizer of this years "BTR".

Pretty sure I was in the very back of the pack the entire time and I actually took Chief Joseph back instead of going down the hill again.

| You may know who has kept "it" going, but originator? No. That's the main thing that gets on everyone's nerves.
If that's the case, I invented the telephone. Fuck Alexander Graham Bell. I've also been the one to keep Telephones in production since then.
You want to know what the best part is? The person who's idea it was originally for the run isn't even on this Forum to the best of my knowledge, why? Because of this stupid shit.
Have fun on the run!
You are all welcome to join on the BAM Cruise this year as well. Just please no driving like morons. There are plans for some extra-curricular activities outside of the cruise as well, both before and after the event. Details will be posted once everything is set in stone.

| This is rediculous!! Some people OBVIOUSLY have ego problems that need to be worked out............
If there ends up being two runs this year (like it sounds like some people are determined to do) then I'm only going on the one with my TRUE friends and people that I TRUST, and that is THIS run!!! Not some other-named run with a bunch of people I'm not close with and don't even know that don't want to join the community to get to know everyone else!! If another group wants to set up their own, I say let them, we don't need them to enjoy OUR cruise!!
/Rant, this forum was supposed to bring ALL enthusiasts TOGETHER!

Details will be posted once everything is set in stone. and yes i know who started it bud and everyones nerves ? no just a selct few . and it doesnt matter anymore who started what . it is what it is and should be enjoyed without all this drama .

| Some people will jump on any bandwagon they can Jake. Its no biggie. One guy runs from the cops in high speed chases through town, city streets and neighborhoods. We all know how legit and responsible and mature that kid is, whether you ignore it or not is up to you.
It has nothing to do with ego, especially mine. I didn't come up with the idea of the run. All I'm saying is there are originators and there are followers. You know where you stand. Its nothing to be ashamed of, its just how it is.
And if you have a problem with another group of friends having a cruise in Memory of one of our "brothers" that passed, you can go fuck yourself. This isn't a stab at "your" "BTR", its something we are doing, because it is how OUR group of friends wants to remember him. We are inviting you guys to go on a cruise in HIS MEMORY, solely for that purpose, and you are making it an ours vs. theirs thing.
Way to go guys. Way to go.
I'd be more than willing to go on both runs, as I am sure the rest of our group of friends would - assuming our schedules allow. Hell, I don't even know if I can go on the BAM cruise, because of work, but only one is being held near and dear to my heart. I'm not trying to start a war guys, I'm just saying give credit where credit is due.
