Beartooth Run: 2010!!

I'll get my pix up later tonight after I make it back down the hill. I think I'm going to take my time and stop everywhere I can for photo shoots

Anyway I have these two sad pictures to share with everyone for now. First off is my upper rad hose that blew 10 miles out of Cooke City POP!!! SMOKE CLOUD!!!



Second is Matt's (two-tone civic) turbo. He said he had just bought that turbo on friday and it worked fine until about 10 miles out of Redlodge so he putted it up to Cooke City and then when he got back to Redlodge to check the oil he found it like this: :yikes:

Whose civic was that?

After we stopped for a break after Red Lodge and before Cooke city he was right in front of us for quite a ways but he wasn't doing anything stupid or dangerous as far as I could see. I'm not sure who he was, maybe he in on bigskysubarus.com

everytime I was driving around him he seemed to be driving fine, I know he was takin those corners hard. That thing is low!

I didn't notice anything. All I had issues with is the grey wrx behind me almost rear ended me a few times.

There was a section up near the top in the snow where a few of us nearly got rear-ended. I had adrenaline from that for an hour!

I was way behind with the little kia. So missed out on it.

I heard that too, I wonder what happened.

Not so well. I was busy taking photos and videos maxing out 4GB. I think it rides too high for it to take some corners. Most of everything on it was stock Spectra SX except the brake pads they told me.

Kia has 5-10 years before they start cranking out cars like Hyundai.

2.0T with 275hp is coming out next year....New Sonata.

I heard a couple of people say that she (the KIA driver) was making them nervous because she was driving that car so quick and they knew it didn't handle very well. I didn't see her driving at all though so I have no idea.

Yeah she was trying to push it with me alittle. But the truth is....yahoo auto...

Kia is heavier
Kia is longer
Kia is higher
Kia is less powerful (With 2.0L Twin/Dual Overhead Cams.....vs.....My 1.8 SOCH VTEC)
Kia has smaller disk brakes
and she told me her disks were possibly warped.

not good. For $9000? kinda a bad choice. Could do alot with $9000 into a car.

I have a regular Civic EX. at least I spend some cash to overhaul the brakes and new tires.

The Kia just got annoying because I got stuck behind it, I wanted to be with the mustangs and the vette and gto, not a Kia. She was takin those corners a little fast, most of us had good suspension for that.

Don't know why she came along or who invited her. Why she decided not to do anything to her car before the run? No clue. They looked more interested in flaunting those tatas.

I'm all for people having whatever car they want to have and being an enthusiast, regardless of what it is.

That being said, I don't want to see anyone getting hurt or hurting someone else because they are trying to drive their car beyond it's limits. That's scary.

Yeah same for me. I wasn't about to play cat and mouse with those sti subys around the bends.

I need better springs, struts, shocks. Some low profile tires and sway bars.

I'll be more ready next year.

I thought I was keepin up pretty good with the subarus, I'm happy how my car handled. Some good tires would have helped. My car was sluggish at the top of the mountain, air was too thin.

Mine was pretty starved for air as well at the top. I need more expensive tires for sure. They were making noise at fairly slow speeds. Overall it handled pretty well, though.

I was planning on switching with kyle and driving the second half but I didn't. I wish I would have, though. it is MY car, afterall. lol

Lol yeah I noticed you wernt driving, but next year you definately need to get behind the wheel for at least one leg of the cruise.

I will for sure.

I knew Kyle was pretty excited about seeing how my springs and shocks would do so I just let him drive the whole thing. I know he misses having a Mustang too, so we share mine now.

Like Molly said, we were behind him for quite some time and he wasn't doing anything wrong. There was a time right at the beginning, right after Redlodge where everyone was passing everyone it seemed, so maybe something happened there. Either way, mistakes happened and nobody got hurt or had their car get hit, and he apologized for whatever happened. His car is definitely badass and he was driving like everyone else was on the fun part.

i did notice some craziness right after red lodge. I was caught in the middle of it. although don't know who did what or when or anything. All the subarus looked the same. besides color.

There was a stretch there that everyone was going pretty damn fast and passing each other but like Kyle said, just about everyone seemed to be doing it. I wonder what happened with antigrn.

Maybe he was just singled out with his license plate name and color scheme. I'll admit I speed also about 115mph.

Regardless of what happened everyone made it back down in one piece... well kinda -Todd - I had no problem with the Kia until she told me her brakes were warped and she refuses any shop to "touch her rotors" haha I was like . welp.... either staying way in front of her or way behind. She did push it and that sucks you got stuck behind her Nik- As for the two tone I didn't see anything crazy in my rear view Molly you were right we all were pretty close up there lol I forgot his name in the other 94-95 Stang- but everytime he'd step on it I'd see a fist pump haha ..good times good times... I think after we all clean out our air filters we should do another run!

check out my pictures on page 4, I got some of the goat.

Yeah Shaun's car is BEASTLY. I felt so slow. I'd have to go full throttle on some of those hills to keep up and I'm sure he was 1/4 throttling it.

How'd your C5 do at the top? Did it feel like it was struggling for air like Nick and I's car was?

I have drive bys of at least 12 cars! Lee you got to 115?! What a wreck*cough*less driver lol It was fun. I know a few of us got to 150's in a couple spots. It seems slow when you're in a group of 4-5

You know surprisingly enough the stock Air is completely shut off from the outside. I still have yet to look at it - but def after that run the cold air intake is going to be well thought out for $460. Maybe she struggled a little - I thought she was going to rub on some of those dips but had no problem.

Doing BTR just made me want to mod my car more haha!

yes! and start up a donation so they can fix those damn roads! -though I think some of those torn up roads slowed us down when we needed to be.

Lol those dirt roads didn't slow down the suby's, or Shaun and Kyle, they didn't even slow sown for them lol. Me and mike drove on the other side of the road for a while

If I had been driving, we would have slowed down. At least the scoobys are built for that kind of terrain!!

Really? Mine will do 140 with 3.73s. I didn't get going that fast tho

It's not governor limited to 120, it's just tired. I'm sure on a more even road or downhill road it'd reach the 140 governor.
