Plus then you get to enjoy laughing at me and how bad I suck at driving. But it will be a good time for sure. Mike I'll be coming too. I'll get you some cash next time I run into you, I hate to waste the 3% paypal fee.

I agree with Todd. The few times I have sent money as gifts it has made me pay the fee.... Who knows.
So back on topic.... what was the general schedule of events last time? Run groups? Open track time and then timed events etc? Hope this wasn't already covered, I haven't read the whole thread.

well last year we were lucky to get more than 5 cars on the track at a time it seamed. Everyone was busy sitting in lawn chairs in the shade or messing with there cars... or BS'n. To me there wasn't nearly enough action to make it real fun. But Max and I still had enough fun with the few cars that would whimper out on to the track and shiver in fear at the sight of the beastly ZC powered civic built by the Mighty Car God Brandon and ordained by his followers. Watching AWD Scoobies try to run away in fear looking like a cat freaking out on a nice polished floor running for their lives from the dominating and fierce civic. Look out for the ninja civic. lol
lets see what everyone has to say about that..... lol

Yeah, I imagine most of us are lacking in the whole stopping department more than anything. I can think of an ugly old Chevy in particular. Perhaps we should have a brake bleeding party the weekend before. Maybe we can get a good deal on some good hi-temp fluid if we buy a few gallons worth.

Funny.... if there is anything that my little Fiat can do..... it's stop. lol That thing will stop as good as the tires and road surface/conditions will allow. As far as everything else go...... well. I guess we'll just see.... but gosh darnt it! My car can stop better then anyones so eat your heart out. lol Got to be proud of something my car CAN do right? lol

would that be a reference to me? just curious. not to mention, my brakes work great.... for about the first 3 hard hits then they just laugh at me...

I know I for one will be changing my brake fluid and installing new rotors and Hawk pads
And I was scared to break something last year Matt. My goal was to drive to the track, race a little, and drive home all it one piece. Mission successful!!

downshift, off throttle, turn steering wheel, back on throttle, up shift.... seems pretty simple...

if my 240 drives out of lewistown I will be pretty suprised! I tend to like to drive my cars hard and so far things have held up, but two things are different this time. ONE, I built my whole car this time rather than driving an evo or the g35. Second, I was always on small SCCA courses so how could you be that hard on your car.
Should be a blast.... good thing Laramy's dad isn't to far away. HOpe big larry doesn't mind a coule 240's stashed at his place ones we tandem drift into each other!
As for all the discussion on braking... there are plenty of us that have old/small/inadequeate brakes so I am not saying I won't be one of the people out there fighting brake issues. But one thing to keep in mind that might help us all save our brakes. Treat them just like a switch, they are either full on or full off. Don't ride them at all, that is where you create a ton of heat. Coming into corners brake hard on the entry and accelerate out. (I know, easier said than done)

Had a bit of a scare this morning. I was suppose to go to the Tint Factory and get the insurance finalized and things kind of went South. I guess Vern is changing insurance companies and his Wife told me that there would be no sponsorship this year.
I have been talking with Vern for the past half hour or so and I think we are going to be good. The insurance should be ready tomorrow, so I will shoot him the fax # and hopefully things will head more North.
Lets just say I have been kind of freaking out this past hour.

I am starting to feel like I am on some sort of reality show... the dead line looms ahead of me for the track debut and nothing but headaches keep coming my way! At this point I don't care if the 240 has to be pushed out to lewistown, I want to hit up the track and screw around with it. Lets hope all things turn North here soon and the insurance comes through as well as the 240 starts running.... and not running like shit!
You could always get a rental car They don't offer much in the way of performance at the airport in Billings, unfortunately. Renting can save you a lot of money on wear and tear and is probably cheaper than using your own car. I am certain the rental car companies do not approve of such use, however, so read the fine print first.
We had a lot of fun back in the day abusing luxury cars at the track (Grand Marquis, Town Cars, Devilles, Conti's). I lapped SLMP in a grand marquis carrying 4 dudes within a second of several WRX's that were there that day. The only mod was the remove-air-filter-and-prop-the-stock-airbox-open mod. The car sounded like paper ripping coming down the front straight at WOT.
Looking forward to Lewistown- not sure which car I will bring yet, but probably the S2000!

I have a spare car to bring if the 240 can't perform (a bright yellow Mr2 that my Dad owns!). It's funny you mention that, i have seen tons of people take rental cars out to bracket races (tons of fun until the rental car catches you, I assume)! I always have my work truck too.... I bet the f-150 handles like a beast!

I'm kinda a noob on this forum. Are there videos of this kind of activity from past events in Lewistown?

There should be a video somewhere in the first 2 pages from one of my laps up there. I will find it and post it for you.

This is a clip from Lewistown 2005 with the SCCA. It was my first time up there and I have not looked back since. I apologize for driving so slow, as my car only had a VF22 and I was new to the whole road racing thing.
