Here is one rolling with RJ last year. RJ is a professional driver that travels the states kicking ass and taking names. It looks like he is driving very slow in the video, but I believe the camera was zoomed in a bit and that really effects how fast it looks.

Here are links to my photobucket albums from both Lewistowns last year. I actually have well over 200 pictures and videos from both events on my hardrive lol. Gonna get a bunch this year hopefully too, and hopefully someone takes more pics of MY car than last year But I'm gonna mount my camera in the car this year and have a blast!!
I just want to make a quick statement about race day.
First and foremost, the insurance. As all of you know it is donated to us by Vern at the Tint Factory and I would just like to throw out a big THANK YOU to him for that.
Now the insurance is there for one reason, in case something happens. If something is to happen at the track and the insurance needs to be involved we can kiss this whole entire weekend getaway GOODBYE! I really do not want any incidents this year, period. There was a couple times last year when things, in my book, got out of control and that is unacceptable. There is going to be ZERO TOLERANCE this year, which means that if I or one of my designated track officials feels that you are being unsafe in a way that you could injure yourself or someone else, you will be force to leave, NO REFUND. Last year we had a car coming down the track backwards on the back stretch. Why that car was going backwards I will never know, but that could have been catastrophic as the backside is the fastest side of the course.
We are all amateur drivers and I would not consider anyone a real racer with the exception of R.J. as he tours the US racing SCCA. I have been racing since 2004 on courses and I dont even think I am 50% of the way to becoming a real race car driver.
I am very worried about this year as always, but what really worries me is there are going to be people I dont know and that is what scares me. My close friends I dont really worry about as I know they care dearly for their cars and would die if something were to happen to it, but there is that small percentage of people I dont know that will be there trying to get more out of their car than it can offer.
As far as I am considered, if you are not a part of the MAEC, you are not a part of this event. I want to keep this as tight knit as possible, which should help with careless drivers, so if you told a buddy he should bring his car and he is not a member tell him politely he is not invited as it is an official MAEC TRACK DAY.
The purpose of this post is to say PLEASE DRIVE TO YOU AND YOUR CARS LIMITS! Just because your car can go 100+ does not mean you need to take it there.
Also, I would appreciate if everyone that is going to be racing, please do a once over on your car and make sure it is all buttoned up. I want to try and avoid any sort of mechanical failure.
THINGS WE WILL NEED LOTS OF LIST:
[1] Tools [2] Kitty Litter [3] Brooms [4] Hoses/Clamps/Vacuum line [5] Coolant/ATF/Oil [6] Coolers [7] Tents/Chairs [8] Fire Extinguishers
I will bring everything I own as usual, but it would be nice for everyone to bring a little something just in case I dont have something.

I was also thinking of making up a waiver for the younger guys so if you wanted to you can at least come out and ride along with some of us. Even if you are not going to be riding along you will need to sign the waiver just in case.

One more thing to think about is fire extinguishers. It is easy to start fires when extremely hot cats end up in the grass if someone slides off the course. I will bring a couple that I have laying around. We should be good if others bring a couple.

i always bring my wife. im not sure if mikey is changing that part or not. im sure he dosen't want one person to bring like 6-10 people but im sure a few would be ok. ill leave that to him. but last year he didnt seem to have a problem with it.

Something else Mike.... Lets get everyone in the mentality that this really isn't a race at all. It's not a timed event... there are no prizes.
This is more of a test, tune, get to know you're car kind of event in a controled environment. Yes it's going to have a race "feel".... but it is not a race. You're just out having fun with you're car on a track with other cars doing the same thing.

Spectators are 100% OK, I will just have them sign the waiver as they did last year. You will be responsible for the people that you bring, so I would not recommend bringing young childeren. The pit area is right as you start accelerating down the straight, so it is pretty dangerous for the most part.
Thanks Randy, I completely forgot about the fire extinguishers. Everyone remembers when Dougs car caught on fire last year. Good thing I had mine handy.

That is correct Matt, this is not a race, it is controlled track racing. I will go over the rules as I did last year before we head out.
Subject: Re: Lewistown [May 29th] 2010 May 10th 2010, 10:28 am
I'll bring a few Fire extinguishers as well. I agree and think it will be more fun not being serious racing. I just want to have fun with everyone and learn about my car more. No reason to push it to the limit. I also wanted to say Thanks to Mike and Vern. Without them this wouldn't be happening, and we need to understand why Mike has his concerns and act responsibly. I'll be happy to give a few rides in the 240. I think even us older guys need to take it slow and not get too excited. Many of our cars are way more than we really know how to drive properly.
Mike let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. I got my room reserved so I will be up there Friday night if you need anything.

great news boys! Smase double checked that one wire in my car that I was 100% sure was soldered just perfect and low and behold it wasn't even soldered! So the 240 is starting up like a champion again. Like always there are still things that could be a little bit more perfect but I am more optomistic now that golden shower will make it out to lewistown!

I also have great news... The insurance is 100% finalized and we are good to go. I guess last week when I thought things were all finalized I was incorrect. Vern was actually in the middle of switching insurance companies and the new policy was not in effect yet. Today, he actually faxed it over and I got a confirmation from OPI stating we are all green, so no more worries!!
I could not be more excited to get out and have some fun. Hope everyone can join!

Alright! Good to know Mike and glad you got your ride up and running Jake!!
I'm almost ready, just a few things left. My Hawk HPS brake pads should be in Thursday and I already have new rotors waiting. Also once those come in I need to get new axles and hopefully Matt W can find the time and the goodness in his heart to help me install it all (I already screwed up the control arm, I don't want to have any chanches on the track. At the same time I'd like to flush the brake fluid and install my catch can. Then last thing is an oil change and allignment!
3 weeks....... I can do this

As usual we will be meeting around 3:30am at All American and then head out from there about 4:00am. I want to try and be up there around the time the sun comes up so we can get the course done and ready to rock by 8:00am.

oh jeez mike dont remind me about the "car" that went backwards. im still Pissed about that.
just for you guys out there. Perferably Dont let anyone drive your car on this track if you dont fully 100% trust then and know they are COMPETENT please...
Also for you new guys, like how mike put it. its not a race against other people i would say i think about it as a learning experience for you to learn what track conditions afffect your car so you can realize your cars limits.
Mike just wondering, is it gunna be super strict this year because i really hope its not super strict. because you know we all enjoyed the time near the end of the day to mess around. (dougie) and the "ken block" stuff haha! (just curious, and of course it won't be done when people are on the track would be more for aka Burnout Show lol since we got some muscle coming and etc)
Also wondering if others can bring some Stop watchs? would like to get some times down this year!
Maybe also we can set up some drag events as well to entertain alittle to!
just some ideas and curiousitys mike and other members!
THis is gunna be a blast as alway!
Remember be safe and enjoy yourself!
PS- mike when would be the time you would like everyone there by? so the GF crew isnt late again... haha

I really want to keep this thing under control this year. We will still have burnouts and crazy drifting as we did last year, but there will be no drag racing as it is kind of worthless without actual times anyway. Dont worry, it is going to be better than last year, for one, we are going to have a sweet group of drivers/cars and two, the track is going to be much safer. Show up around 8 or 830, I will be there by 6 to start setup.
Pray for good weather.

I was up there with the Porsche club yesterday and it was a blast. The one snafu of the day was a Porsche with a dry sump leaving a strip of oil around most of the track. We had something like 20 bags of floor dry spread all over the track. It worked really well and we were all able to turn some more fast times after we restarted. I also watched someone from this site run a rental family car Nissan around the track way faster than I thought possible. I am pretty excited for the 29th.

There must have been around 45 cars. It made for some large run groups. It was kinda hard to find open track, always catching up to slower cars.

Well we should not have to worry about I hope. Last year we just had everyone go at one time, but we may have seperate groups depending on how many people show up.

Run groups would kinda be a bummer. We were all pretty good about not having too many cars ont he track at once last year, I hope we can manage it again.
Also I plan on doing a few tuning laps to get some good logs I'm getting more and more excited every day!

I spent the weekend making some suspension changes so now I will test them out and see what I think.... hopefully things continue to go good. I am in with everyone else I am getting more and more excited!
I think as long as everyone understand that Mike is the only one who is absolutely in charge, and Mike takes on that roll.... we should have a good event. If numbers allow, we will do no run groups, but if we have too many then we split it up. But in the end we will let Mike make that call and if you want to disagree you can leave.
Team Sprock has your back Mike!

you guys ever do lap time competitions? Keeps it safer (than racing each other) I think it would be way cool to see what everybody does on their times! (not to mention myself) Then come september run the lap times again and see if your skills or mods done to the car paid off!

Again we dont actually really race each other(in a way). we will pass and get passed and some will see if the other can pass i guess. last year us the Great falls group just see who did better times with each other.
But yes having a board and a stop watch would be awesome to see who does what times i would enjoy that very much
As stated above Mike is in charge as he is the one who finally set this up for us last year and all these times (thanks mike) I dont for see any problems with people arguing with him.

I was just up there this weekend also.... And I'd like to mention that although some folks don't like the Porsche club for some reason.... I think it was the most professional and well run event I've been to for quite some time.
And as far as people going off track..... it happened once..... well contained and track shut down immediately to help the get back to the pits.... check his car out.... then game on.
Maybe two car spun out.... everything well under control and safe. I would like to see the same thing in two weeks. There is NOTHING like running hard at lewistown in the state of Montana..... so lets not abuse this privilage.

that was my point exactly. that we are not "racing" each other car to car but on times...should be safer that way!

Yeah but it seriously takes idk 3-4 mins perlap it would hit the point where we could only get a couple of runs. ive ran this 2 other times when it was Subarus only last year. and we had safe but fun driving no one got to close on the slolams or anything. youll see its not like your panicking about others hitting each other. i think we should have a couple of stop watchs and a white board and just time it.
Also just reread what you wrote and i see what your saying. lol but yeah that would be fun to lol sorry that is what i stated before .. im tired and at work hahaha. but if we dont it would be fine to. this year ill see if my GF buddies can catch me on the chase like we did last year. had to explain but would see if he could safely keep up with me on the track (he has about 150chp more then me lol) this year he should they are all learning, and doing SCCA now. and tuning there car more for suspension and etc. they are gunna beat me now prob. im gunna be running on crappy brake pads lol. didnt have money to buy some hawks. oh wellz. meed to bleed my brakes again, got a air bubble i think. not sure if its just warn pad. ill lift up the car and check on a day off
